So I was looking around online, trying to find out what types of clothes I should pack, and it seems to me that the “average temps” listed for the cities I’m going to (Amsterdam, Paris, Lucerne, Chamonix, Nice, Barcelona) seems pretty low (most were just high 70s, except for Lucerne and Chamonix, which were low 60s I think). I understand that I’m probably going to need a jacket or sweater for Switzerland and Chamonix, but I’m from the southern US and 75-79 degrees for the other places seems awfully cool to me for the middle of July…

I have a couple questions, if you have any insight I would really appreciate it. Maybe these are silly questions, but here it goes:
1) On the way back home (to California!) I leave Hamilton Island to Sydney and then to LA. I have a 1 hour layover in Sydney. Is 1 hour enough time to get from the Domestic Terminal (because I’m coming from Hamilton) to the International Terminal (I’m going to LA)? Does anyone know if my luggage will go straight through or will I need to pick it up in that 1 hour window?
2) My flight leaves Hamilton Island at 8:50 am. Does anyone know if the water ferry leaves early enough for me to get to the airport at that time? There is a way for me to get to the airport that early, right?
Thank you so much for any information you can share with me!

I have heard that on the Cabins/Concept Tours that everyone hung around the Cabins at night times in stead of going out as they had no money is this true?
We are looking to do a tour next year and the tour we would like to go on in a concept tour, we want to go overseas and experience the night life aswell as experience the sights.

For all the people that have done tour(s) before, is is true their are way more girls than guys? And also, how much of a contiki tour is really a massive ummm, chance to hook up?!? is that how i could put it? haha

Hey look, i know this is a strange topic, but i gotta ask it.
I just found out off a work mate that has done contiki that you cant drop turds on the bus, they only let you have a piiss. So all good and well if you have busted the seal, but what about grog bogs or if the food doesnt agree with you?
Is it like the days in the bush with school where they pull over and you take a plastic bag some tissues and dig a hole?

Hi,
im hoping to do some tours in america next year. from reading a lot of posts i get the impression that a lot of people go on the tours to go out partyin and drinking all the time. im not a huge party/drinking person, i do like the odd night out but not every night (getting too old lol) so i was wondering if you’re not up for that every night will u get left by yourself or do there tend to be other people who dont like to get drunk every night and would prefer other things? i dont wanna be left out or a loser lol!
thanks,
suzanne

Hi everyone! i know this is a pretty obscure question but does anyone know how to get from Paris to the Chateau de Cruix in the Beaujolais region? I know there’s a train from paris to Lyon part dieu and one to Lyon perrache….. does anyone know how i could get from one of these stations to the beaujolais wine region? would i have to take a taxi?
Cheers!

hey,
so i have decided im going to do the eastern discovery next summer, either by myself or with a friend. where do i start with the whole booking thing? we havent decided whether to do the BAE afterwards or just spend some time in new york by ourselves, and also wanted to be in new orleans for a few days before the tour starts to get over jet lag etc. so…
do i book the tour, then the flights and then hotels? i wont be able to book it all in 1 go but dont wanna leave the hotels til late and there wont be any! also i will get insurance, is there anything else i would need to book?
sorry if this seems a really stupid post but i have never travelled before and there seems so much to look at and book i dont really know where to start!! thanks x

Anyone try this before?
I’m going to Europe in July and planning on doing a fair bit of shopping while there. Don’t want to have too much hassle with luggage weight / not enough space to cram it all.
I know that shipping is pricey (I would get insurance on top of it), and there’s Customs that could tax it at whatever rate they like.. so wondering if anyone has tried this before and would recommend it.

Hi there,
We are about to book our ‘road to athens with 3 days greek sailing’ and the prices are different for rooms ‘inside’ the ship and ‘outside’ the ships.
Can anyone who has been before give me any advice as to which is better? Is it worth the $$$ upgrade or not?
Also, any advice on any part of this tour would be greatly appreciated as its my first trip o/s.
Thanks
Kim

Hey guys,
just wanted to let you know of a good deal. I just booked with Travel Insurance Direct (TID) online and saved so much money. My insurance for a 3 month trip was only $266, less than half of what I have been quoted elsewhere. There policies are just as good, if not better and they have 24hr emergency contacts free calls in case of an accident.
So just thought I’d share lol

Ok this is a little silly but as a girl who is 5’11 with long legs, everything is shorter on me, inclding shorts.
Coming from sunny QLD in Australia our shorts are pretty short and hence on me shorter still. will it be considered inappropriate to wear short shorts in europe? i’m not talking about cheeks showing or anything but i noticed in photos most wore three quarters which i get too hot in. i am very comfy in my shorts but attract a little more attention due to my height.
am i being paranoid or should i keep searching? (hard as it is!)
i know in places like the vatican i need to wear respectable clothes but day to day wise is this ok?
10th May 2012
hey all, im going to europe for a 45 day tour and i know theres not many times you get to wash your clothes, but when you do whats the best opption?
Washing powder or liquid concerntrate.
When you go to the laundry place do you have to bring your own powder?
Or would liquid do the trick. This way i can do washing in a sink if need be in my hotel room.
What did everyone take, or did you not take any at all? how did you find it.

I wanna do the european whirl next year, and denmark and sweden aren’t on the tour, is it possible to add that to the tour and if so, how much would it cost?
