Doing a camping tour in Europe in 2011 and am trying to decide between a suitcase and a pack. What would be the best option?
Also – does anyone know of brands that do suitcases that also have straps on them so they can be used as pack? I’ve seen a few but haven’t been able to grab brands. Thanks ![]()

Hi! I would just like to inquire if anyone has pictures of the cabins/rooms for concept tours? If not, can someone please make a description? Thank you!

Hi everyone, just wondering if anyone had any advice on the UK starter packs you see on various sites. They usually include setting up a bank account, getting you the equivalent of a tax file number, sim card etc. Are they worth it? And which did you use?
Also, some sites offer visa help where you pay them to go over your UK visa appilcation first so you’ve no worries about being declined. Is this service worth the money?
Any advice would be lovely!

The friend I am going on my trip with just found out she is 5 weeks pregnant, so she will be 22 weeks (about 5.5 months) along when we do our trip this summer. The airlines say it’s okay to travel under 32 weeks so that’s all good, and doctors say it’s fine and if she gets tired just to take it easy. She’s pretty tough, and is still looking forward to the trip, although she can’t do the wine tasting and beer tasting she thought she would! She’s not a major party animal anyway and was going mainly for the experience. Her husband is coming with us too.
Has anyone else done a Contiki tour while pregnant? Does anyone know anyone else who has?

hey just wondering if the tents on the camping trips are waterproof for when it rains? and does anyone know if you can use vodafone phones in europe?
10th May 2012
I’ve had a Blackberry for 6 months now but I’ve never taken it outside of North America. I heard that the devices are “world phones”. Anyone know if I would be able to place a call from Europe?
Oh, and no, I don’t plan on making a pile of phone calls while on vacation
I bring my phone with me on my travels for emergencies only… and it’s been a good idea in the past.

From reading the travelogs…there are some optionals that are not listed on the website or the brochure. How much more should I budget for non-listed optionals?

hi,
Ive been told we are staying at the Portland Square Hotel while in New York for the Best of USA tour, will we be in the rooms with the shared bathrooms. Is there anyway that you can pay extra to get a room with your own bathroom, i know i may sound like a princess but dont really feel like sharing a bathroom.

Hey Everyone,
Any suggestions on mailing things back home. Ofcoarse, all of my family and friends want stuff (and because I am missing 2 family members birthdays while i am away) I want to send small stuff back, pssible a gold chain for mom! Any suggestions or know where I can go to to get prices from sending overseas back home to Canada? Would I be better off just lugging it around?
Any suggestions or ideas would be great!

Hi all,
I am new to these forums, so please pardon my ignorance here.. I’m not even sure if i’ve posted this in the right section.
I’ve been going through a process of trying to decide between Kumuka and Contiki when it comes to the following tours:
1. Contiki’s European Magic; and
2. Kumuka’s Winter Rhapsody.
Both are in a similar price range, but i don’t know anyone who has been on either of these tours, and had the brilliant idea of checking Contiki’s forums to get some insight from people who’ve actually been on either of these tours/ know abit about these two touring groups.
Am looking to travel around Jan – Feb 2010. The major difference between the two tours is that Kumuka’s focuses more on Eastern Europe, while Contiki’s stope in Central Europe, and spends extra time in Paris. Further to this.. can people let me know what they thought of Paris? Have never been, but have heard some mixed reviews on the city.
I like both tours (really want to see Venice, which is only offered in the Euro Magic tour!).. I guess a little advice/ insight here would help.
Thanks in advance!!

Wondering which is the best way to travel! I think the metro would be quicker, but I’ve heard a few stories about pickpockets, and I don’t fancy trying to fend them off laden down with a suitcase and backpack!
That said, the taxis can be expensive and take a long time in rush hour.
Anyone with experience out there – what would you recommend?

I’m trying to figure out if I should take a big suitcase or a large backpacker style backpack. I’ll be in Australia a month and taking the Coast to Whitsundays tour.
Is it common for people to take a small carryon suitcase and just do laundry each week? Are there laundry facilities even available at the hotels during the tour, or is it just better to bring clothes at least to last the 2 week tour?
Thanks!

Hi
I am a little worried about the standard of accomodation that Contiki uses and hoping for some advice.
Im not a fussy person, I only look for a clean place to sleep and shower, Im just worried that the rooms will be dirty and have bugs, etc.
I’m ok with the hotels not being close to the city, and with the complaints of not a lot of hot water, more the bugs issue and cleanliness.
What has been people’s experience of hotels in the following countries? Any particular reviews?
- Madrid (any feedback on Hotel Florida Norte)
- Barcelona
- Avignon, Spain
- French Rivieria
- Pisa
- Florence
- Rome (any feedback on Roma Park)
- Sorrento
- Corfu
- Athens (any feedback on Arion Hotel)
I am not yet sure of where I will be staying in each of the places, and any reviews would be great.
Thanks!

Hey guys I’m planning my first Contiki trip for June / July 09, and am undecided between Impressions and Inspiration.
I was just wondering whether spending only one night in a lot of the places is too fast paced, and whether it gives you enough time to do everything?
Cheers,
Chris

Hey!
I’m wondering, other than iPod’s, books, crosswords and handheld video games, do you guys have any suggestions of things to do on teh long bus rides?
On a separate note, ladies, how did you manage to pack everything and still keep it under the weight restriction?! I am just starting to compile a bunch of things to bring and it seems like it would weigh a lot!
