This will probably seem like a silly question but I’m really bad with boats. Everyone I ask about the Ferry Ride from Dover to Calais just says “you’ll be fine” but can anyone give me some accurate useful information on how long the trip really is, what the conditions were like (I’m travelling September) and any other info?

I’ve read that in some places it is not a good idea to have your shoulders exposed, or wear short shorts.. Is it also offensive to have some boob out??

Has anyone done a day trip from the Austrian Tyrol (Hopfgarten) to Salzburg instead of the optional extras? Our tour (European Adventurer) doesn’t go through Salzburg, but I notice they are not far from each other, and assume there will be a train nearby we can catch?
Any advice would be geatly appreciated

I’m going on the March 28 Ultimate European trip. Based on the intinery we will be ariving in Rome from Florence on Good Friday and leaving Rome on Easter Sunday. You can probably guess the ‘dilema’, with all the extra pilgrims (and being able to see Rome from a place other than a que).
A few of us going have already realised this and I was wondering what other people’s experience of Rome at this time of the year has been like. I’m particularly interested in the implications on sightseeing (Vatican etc), tours etc. I don’t to spend all day in extra long lines just to have the places close before we get halfway up the line. I believe a lot of the major tourist sites close around midday on weekends.
Should we still try for these sites? or would the overcrowding change the experience? From a sightseeing tourist perspective would it be more appropriate to see other less known locations (what are our alternatives?) rather than going from one mile long line to another. Also with the guided Imperial tour of Rome, will these tours be so full of extra tourists to cater for the demand that it would be more beneficial to just go off on our own pace with a guide book and map?
I would love to hear people’s thoughts and experiences on this matter, as well as any recommendations of sites to visit at this time of the year.

I am an NFL fan and I wanna buy some gear while I am doing the Eastern Discovery or NbNE tour in May/June.
Is there a store I can go to, similar to that of the AFL shop in australia, or do I have to order it online or from a catalogue?
I know it is a strange questions but I was wondering if anyone knew an answer.

I’d just like to hear any advice from past travellers about luggage!!
I’ve heard that the contiki villages don’t have lockers for luggage/bags and I’m wondering whether this is true or not!
Moreover, I’m interested to know whether there are times when we will have to carry our luggage with us during the day – I don’t mean from the bus to rooms or onto ferries and the like, but whether we’ll need to carry all our luggage during sightseeing or antyhing…I’m on a 6 week tour and I’m wondering whether to pack light or not to worry!!

Hey Guys
I am doing Grand Southern in Jan and was looking at the optionals and wondering which ones were the best. I won’t be able to afford to do all of them and so hoping you guys can tell me which you enjoyed the most.
Would love any comments too if you want to write about a specific one or give me some feedback on which ones were good/not good or things to do instead to save money.
Would appreciate any input.

I know it sounds weird since its name is Winter Wander but this tour is exactly what I want going to all the places I want and it’s a time out tour only problem I want summer and it’s only offered in winter – hense the name!
Is Barcelona and the French Riviera really good or could I miss it?

Im thinking of doing a contiki europe tour and then flying over and doing an American one, has anyone done this and if so any tips, i cant decide between the two so i have decided to do both at once. I know its a personal thing but which country did people find the best; pros and cons?

Could someone recommend which would be better, considering my age: 34. What are the major differences between Concept & Timeout tours? I know these two tours are almost the same. Which is better value for money.

Hey guys,
I am doing the European Adventurer on the 10 August – 16 Septemeber so it will be the hight of summer in Europe but the temperatures don’t seem to be that hot in the Northern European countries.
What kind of clothes should i pack? I am thinking it is going to be hot in the southern european area but places like germany and paris (at this time of year) would you still be wearing pants? or just more like shorts and a cardi??

Hey all, just want to get some advice from people who have or are thinking of doing any of the american trips.. I’m thinking of heading over at the end of march next year, my brother is in tennisse at college and am going over for his 21st B’day and while im there i want to see america at the same time. So yeah i’d like any advice on best tours to do, places to see etc etc etc, I’d like to see the east and west coast but open to peoples suggestions.
