hopefully i’ll be arriving in London in the morning. But if i arrive early evening, is it safe to wander around London alone??

Is there a bar/eating place in the royal national? — i thought i read this somewhere?

If it’s safe, where is best to go – food, pubs, bar?

Or is it better to just go to bed?!

I am 30yrs old, and just started my search for a tour of Italy. I am hoping to go late spring/early summer. Is Contiki the way to go for someone my age, or is it geared to a younger group?

Looking at doing a September “2008” tour solo. Has anyone did the Greek Island Hopping tour or any other Greece tour in September? And can anyone tell me what the weather might be like during that month? Any info would be great. Thanks

Chris

I’m debating if I want to go on a camping or budget trip in 2009. I’ve been camping before, but never when I had to worry about spending a night in town. So, because of that, I have a couple of camping questions…

- Please tell me there’s hot showers. Smiler Will I have to save coins to operate them?
- How complicated is it to hand wash/dry clothes at the camp sites? lol, I assume everyone will be able to see my underwear when they are drying, unless I somehow hang them up in the tent.
- What has people done with their wet towels? Were people mostly able to dry them before they had to pack up? Is there a brand that drys quickly?
- How can I charge my batteries besides on the bus?
- When we’re at a place for a day, will our stuff be left in our tents or stowed on the bus?
- When I think of camping, I think of backpacking all my stuff, but I would prefer to use a suitcase. What do most people bring on the camping trips?
- I plan on bringing a liner, but how often are the contiki sleeping bags cleaned? I don’t have a problem sleeping in my dirt, but with the stories I’ve read don’t really want to sleep in anyone else’s dirt.

The non-camping questions…
- For the optional excursions, I’ve read in some places that you pay for all the extras on the first/second day of the trip. What if you decide later that you want to go on the optional trip?
- I’ve read that some ATMs only accept either a 4 or 6 digit PIN. Has anyone had problems with this?

Thanks in advance for answering!

Roughly how far in advance do I need to book my Contiki tour? I was thinking of either going in June 2008, or July 2008, but don’t want to book too far in advance (as it is difficult to plan that far ahead with work etc)…

I have booked this tour and was wondering if anyone else could help with a couple of questions…..

What time roughly does the coach get to Calais and London on the last day? I need to book a flight to Marseille on that day, from either place.

Also, has anyone else left the tour to fly out of Amsterdam on the last night/day? Where do you stay in Amsterdam and how far is it to the airport?

Would anyone like to recommend an alternative way of getting to Marseille or Montpellier from Amsterdam/Calais/London on a budget?

I’m off to the World Cup!! GO the ALL BLACKS!!!!

Thanks!

Hey guys, I’ve been researching tours thru Europe for the past month and just found Contiki thru a friends recommendation. Im looking to travel in May or June 2007 as a graduation tour before I have to get out into the real world as they say. I wanted to go on a longer tour just so that I had the chance to see more, any recommendations on a good tour? I’d prolly be travelling by myself since none of my friends can come up with the money for a trip like this so trying to maybe chat with people and get familiar before I go.. Any input will surely help!

Hello everyone! I’m going on my very first trip this March (Winter Wanderer) and I’m curious about the optional excursions that Contiki offers. Should I try to do them all or just do a few? Are some better than others? Any advice and recommendations would be great! Thanks! Smiler

I found this link with some free language courses and found it quite helpful. Some of them have basic “holiday phrases” that might help you out in a pinch! I have been working on the French tutorials offered by the BBC, I hope this helps someone else out Smiler

I’d LOVE to do it .. but I have a few questions!

1. Is it, well not bad, but annoying that you only get to spend a day or so at each destination?

2. Does it get really hot? Like sweaty, death hot? lol!

3. What are you bathrooms and stuff like?

Thanks =D

Hi

I am booked on the European Discovery (Winter) starting on Dec 20, 2010. If my calculations are correct, we shall be in Rome on Dec 25-26.
As I have read somewhere that these days are closed days for the Vatican City, I was wondering what actually happens to the tour on these days as the optional tour of Vatican would probably not be available. Unless we do it early in the morning of the 27th before leaving for the next stop?
If anybody who has gone on any tour where the Vatican was closed could shed some light on this?

Hey there,

My friend and I are looking to do one of the tours in Greece and not sure which one to choose.

Does anyone have any suggestions on which one is better? We were thinking of either doing the Spotlight plus the 7 day island cruise OR doing the island hopping and then spending a couple extra days exploring some of the other cities on the mainland on our own.

Any advise/reviews/thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
