When is the best time to visit Asia?

As a rule of thumb, avoid July to October if you’re looking for reliable weather. The dry season varies from country to country, but occurs roughly from November to April.

The Philippines gets its beach weather in May-June. Have a think about which events you want to witness too. Japanese Cherry Blossoms? The colourful Holi Festival in India, or the STUNNING Ice and Snow sculpture festival in China, plus myriad New Year celebrations across the continent? Most of Asia’s iconic festivals run between November and April. Again, it depends what’s happening (and when) so get researching.

Do I need a visa to travel to Asia?

This will depend on your country of origin. Luckily for you, we made a helpful guide that’ll tell you everything you need to know.

What should I pack for a trip to Asia?

This depends when and where you’re visiting in Asia, not to mention what you plan to do while you’re there. That being said, you probably can’t go wrong with bringing:

• Hydration tablets
• A portable fan
• A sweat rag
• Good socks
• Insect repellant
• Travel adaptors
• Tote/laundry bag

What is ATM access like in Asia?

ATM access in Asia will depend where you are. In the major cities, you’ll find ATMs pretty easy to come by. In more rural areas though, you may have to look a little harder or go without. Want our advice? Keep some spare cash in your wallet, just in case.

How many days should I spend in Asia?

It depends how much you want to see! Luckily for you, Contiki trips range from one week to one month long, so there’s a trip to suit any amount of free time.

Is it customary to tip in Asia?

This will vary depending on the country/region you’re in, but generally no. Tipping is more common in Europe and the Americas, but is not a staple of Asian culture.

Is tap water safe to drink in Asia?

In most cases, we’d recommend sticking to bottled water during your trip to Asia.
