See the Rila Monastery

Bulgaria's most famous monastery was founded in the 10th century, by a Bulgarian hermit monk named Ivan of Rila. Located in a valley in the Rila Mountains in stunning Rila National Park, it's a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is famed for its beautiful architecture and fabulous frescoes, as well as its appearance on the back of the Bulgarian 1 lev note!
