2 Dubrovnik to Korčula

After a late start & breakfast we’ll raise the anchor & hit the waves. As we set sail for the week of exploring, having a camera at the ready for some amazing shots is essential – the blue water & rocky Adriatic coastline is perfect for framing up great pics as you sail the waves toward Korčula, once home to legendary explorer Marco Polo.

On arrival & a late lunch on-board it’s time to explore your way. This walled fishing village is filled with pretty buildings and has fascinating Venetian architecture, designed to protect the Old Town from wind and sun. Head to the famous explorer’s birthplace in the Old Town - we love heading to the top of the tower for some great views. Back down on street level, the towns, it’s little streets lined with cobbles & cute shops is perfect for local souvenirs.

If you love it local then keep your ears peeled for music, it could be the Moreška a local sword dance with costumes & music & find a spot to try some local wines. With your Korčula cultural fix fed, ask your Tour Rep for their local tips on where to head to discover Korčula by night – there are some cool little bars in the city walls that are the ideal spot for a blissful sunset.

Boat Lunch, Breakfast

  • Visit the fortified Old Town
3 Korčula to Hvar

Munch on breakfast as we cruise the Adriatic to one of Croatia’s most popular islands, Hvar. This place sports the region’s hottest nightlife and a port packed with yachts from all over the world. You’ll soon understand why Hvar is a magnet for celebs!

Check out the town’s stunning square and 16th century theatre, grab a drink & people watch. If you’re feeling like some new views, make tracks to the hilltop fortress for full-blown views over Hvar’s gorgeous harbour. This is picture perfect stuff. If you’d like to chill even more, the tiny bays are great for exploring. The island’s unique coastline, pine-covered slopes and vineyards are epic & the local wine here is some of Croatia’s best so getting into a taste of what the locals love is essential.

If you’re keen to catch the rays on land, head to Hula Hula Beach Bar. This Hvar hotspot is just around the corner from the port & boasts sun loungers & a bar right by the water. Pumping beats, sunshine, new friends…what could be better? Keep the groove going tonight at the harbourside clubs & bars.

It’s onto a new vibe today, Bol on the south island of Brac. The island’s pebbly rocks & little bays are popular spots for catching some rays & the town iself is great for people watching. This little town is cute & quaint, so exploring is perfect. You could hit the Zlatni Rat (Golden Cape) beach. It’s been said that it’s one of the best in Croatia, so finding out for yourself is a must when you’re here. Hit the town, climb the King’s stairs or pay a visit to the Dominican Monastery if you’re feeling like a taste of the cultural past here. Later, there’s the option to take it up a notch & get into the good times at our Captain’s dinner & pirate party.

6 Bol to Makarska

Get on deck & plug in your iPod as you watch the Adriatic go by en route to Makarska. After lunch we’ll dock in the harbour, which sits at the foot of a massive cliff face. It’s got a super long sandy beach and a long promenade – just right for stretching your legs on land. For a bit of local action, head to the main square and check out the fruit and flower markets.

Tonight, ask your Contiki Rep for tips on the town’s best places to eat. Trying some grilled fish or a mixed seafood platter with some of your travel buddies at cute, local restaurant is essential. This town is packed with fun clubs & bars including some themed ones that our travellers love. Your Tour Rep will give you some pointers on where to go for what you’re into before you hit the town.

Today we cruise on to the Dalmatian capital, Split. Get up close to real Roman heritage when you wander through the domain of Diocletian’s Palace in the city centre, complete with 220 buildings and a huge cathedral.

Make your last night one to remember – head out for a cocktail to toast the trip or if you’re not into it a Bijela Kava coffee is definitely worth a sip or two. Soak up Split’s Mediterranean vibes and get amongst it at a waterfront bar – the promenade is always packed with people, performers & musicians so the vibe here is awesome.
