What is the currency used in Portugal?

When is the best time to visit Portugal?  

Spring through to mid summer (March - June) are usually considered the best times to visit Portugal. What should I pack for a trip to Portugal?

It depends what time of year you’re travelling, but assuming you’re heading there during the warmer seasons, you’ll want to bring lightweight, breathable clothes, sunglasses and a sturdy backpack for sure.

What is ATM access like in Portugal?  

Portugal has excellent ATM access and you can use most major credit and debit cards in shops and to withdraw cash. If we’re heading somewhere rural where cash is preferred, we’ll make sure you’re sorted before we head off.

What is the tipping culture in Portugal?

There isn’t a big tipping culture in Portugal, although in some more touristy places it tends to be encouraged. Wherever you are though, we’re sure that any cash tip will be greatly appreciated by the service staff. 

Is tap water safe to drink in Portugal?

Tap water in Portugal meets EU safety standards for drinking, so you can be sure that wherever you are you’ll be able to drink from the tap. Bottled water is also readily available if that’s your preference.
