Lush powder. Sloping mountains. And enough ski resorts to keep the adventure going forever. That’s what you’ll get in Hakuba Valley - the host of the 1998 Nagano Winter Olympics. It’s located in the northwestern Nagano Prefecture at a whopping 3000 meter altitude. From gentle groomed runs to 8-km-long cruising courses, Hakuba’s got something for everyone.

How to get to the accommodation

  1. At the end of Day 10, your Trip Manager will hand you return train tickets at your hotel in Tokyo.
  2. Then, you’ll make your way to Tokyo Station to catch your included train to Nagano.
  3. Once in Nagano, you can catch the local bus to Hakuba Station.
  4. After the trip, you’ll need to make your way to Nagano Station to catch your included train back to Tokyo.

Resort Inn Marion Shinano

Wanna stay right at the foot of Mt. Hakuba? Ofc, you do! Here, you’ll get easy ski-to-door access in the Tsugaike Kogen area (it’s only a 3-minute walk from the gondola station!). Plus, there’s a large open-air bath with a natural hot spring view of Hakuba Himekawa Onsen, which offers beautiful views of the Northern Alps. Wow.

Lift passes aren’t included in the Japan Winter Wonder trip price. You have the option to get a  ticket to a specific resort, or choose one that covers all 10 resorts in the Hakuba Valley.

Ski equipment hire

Need to hire ski equipment? Head to this website and rent from their Tsugaike shop - just a 3 minute walk from the hotel! Heads up - stock can be limited during peak times. So we recommended early booking. You can cancel for free up until 48 hours before your reservation.

Note: Ski equipment isn’t included in the Japan Winter Wonder trip price.

Frequently asked questions

Yep! Just note that you’ll have to carry your ski gear onto the train yourself, and store them in the overhead space throughout the journey. There’s no separate luggage van available.

Wanna avoid the hassle? You can send the gear from Osaka to your Tokyo hotel for a small fee (approx US$30). Your Trip Manager will sort you out.
