TRAVEL IN SERENGETI
Sun, sights and safari: buckle up for one wild ride to Serengeti National Park! One of the most phenomenal national parks in the world, a trip to Serengeti is nothing short of life-changing. From witnessing the Great Migration – where millions of animals stampede across the plains with predators at their feet – to enjoying driving sightseeing from the jeep during a Game Drive, there are so many things to do in Serengeti that will get your blood pumping.
Our suggestion for where to start? At the Serengeti Visitor Centre. The ultimate place to learn about the park’s ecosystem and wildlife, soak up tonnes of information about the history of Serengeti and all the conservation work that’s happening here. Next, armed with all that knowledge, jump on board a game drive, where you’ll explore the national park in search of the Big Five: lion, leopard, rhino, elephant and buffalo. Along the way, be sure to admire the view from your window. Driving through these extensive plains, you’ll notice small island-like rock formations emerging from a sea of grass. Known as the Moru Kopjes, these beautiful mini-mountains not only form a beautiful part of the scenery, but play an important role in the Serengeti ecosystem. Providing water, shade and a place to hide from prey, the Moru Kopjes are the centre of life for many Serengeti animals.
Keen to go all out when it comes to the Serengeti experience? We suggest booking a hot air balloon tour. Leaving just before dawn, your balloon will take you high above the (sparse) bush canopy to give you the most breathtaking view of Serengeti. Not only will you be able to see a beautiful orange sunrise, you’ll get to witness the Great Migration from the best seat in the house: among the clouds.
With so many things to see, learn and experience, you’ll tick off tonnes of items from your bucket list during a trip to Serengeti, Tanzania.
