Introduction to Hopfgarten

If it’s a Europe adventure you’re after, Hopfgarten in Austria is your answer. Come winter or summer, sun or snow, this beautiful mountainous region has something for just about everyone. Located in the Tyrol region and perched 622m above sea level, Hopfgarten boasts world class ski slopes, a charmingly quaint village, friendly locals and a whole heap of spring/summer time activities to keep you busy once the snow has melted away. Paragliding, white water rafting, mountain biking and a variety of other adventure sports are all on the cards here. If you’re keen for a city escape on the other hand, why not take a day trip to Salzburg? This picturesque city is full of medieval baroque buildings, musical hills, beer halls and cute AF colourful buildings. Whether you’re a total beginner who maybe hasn't even seen snow before, or an absolute piste smashing pro, Contiki Ski Austria trips are suitable to all. All of our ski/board trips stay at the Contiki owned Gasthof Schoneck, with prime access to the vast Ski Welt region, complete with 279 km (174 miles) of runs for skiers and boarders of all abilities. On a Ski Austria Contiki, you’ll have the option to spend your days in lessons learning the ropes or brushing up on your skills, or else heading out to explore the vast Ski Welt region with your new pals. After a long day in the snow, catch one of the regular complimentary transfers back to Gasthof Schoneck, where you can chill, nap, or enjoy schnappy hour in the bar (if you know, you know). Gasthof Schoneck is decked out Contiki owned accommodation which ticks all the boxes; think bikes, a sauna, a communal bar and more. It’s pretty much the perfect place to après after a busy day on the slopes, or of course you could stop at one of the many bars on the mountain for a well deserved hot choccy/gluhwein/ice cold beer. Either way, Contiki Austria trips will have you bonding with your Contiki family in no time. How do you keep fuelled for long days on the slopes? Classic Austrian food of course, and in Hopfgarten it’s home comforts all the way. Soups, goulash and hot pots will keep your energy levels high after a long days skiing in the blue skies, whilst the Contiki cooks will whip you up a hearty breakfast every morning. If you love skiing, adventure and classic Austrian everything, Hopfgarten is the little corner of the world made especially for you...
