12 days visiting Raglan, Rotorua, Blue Duck Station, Wellington, Marlborough Sounds, Christchurch, Mt Cook, Glenorchy, Queenstown

Sometimes you just want to get off the beaten track. That’s why we've put together this New Zealand Off-Grid trip, from learning the ways of Māori culture to hand-feeding parakeets in the wilderness of Lochmara, this is the future of travel - conscious, hyper-local and as authentic as it gets.

Here’s why our newest trip is unlike anything you’ve experienced before.

5 New Special Stays

An exclusive access stay in a Māori marae where you’ll learn how to carve jade using traditional techniques; a sustainable working farm in Ruapehu; a lodge in the Marlborough Sounds that’s accessible only by boat; a Mt Cook Lodge nestled under the stars in the world’s foremost Dark Sky Reserve and the award-winning Camp Glenorchy Eco Retreat, announced one of Time Magazine’s 2019 World's 100 Greatest Places. Accomodation doesn’t get more unique than this.

Experience sustainable living

Glenorchy, New Zealand | Day 11 & 12

During a 2-night stay at the award-winning Camp Glenorchy Eco Retreat, you’ll learn how this accommodation has been designed, built and operated in line with the philosophy and principles of the Living Building Challenge (LBC), recognised as the most stringent environmental building design certification in the world. It reflects and celebrates the natural and cultural environment through buildings designed with non-toxic construction materials, native plantings, and creative touches from New Zealand artists and craftspeople.

Go deep into an underwater world

Marlborough Sounds | Day 5

Explore the native marine environment at Lochmara Lodge in Queen Charlotte Sound, taking an underwater observatory tour with an on-site marine biologist and learning about marine conservation in the Marlborough Sounds. You’ll also have the chance to hand-feed native parakeets and stingrays during your 2-night stay.

Eat farm-to-table

Blue Duck station, New Zealand | Day 4 & 5

At Blue Duck Station, nestled in the wilderness of the Ruapehu District, you’ll be treated to an included farm-to-table dinner, with produce harvested on the farm and sustainably sourced from the surrounding bush.

Get back to nature

Hike in Mt Tarawera’s active volcanic landscape, explore native rainforest at dawn with breakfast & coffee followed by ziplining, go white water rafting down the crashing Kaituna river, take an ATV bush safari and hear about the amazing conservation work at Blue Duck Station, go horse-riding through the pine forests and mountains of Ruapehu, touch 500 year old glacial crystals as you cruise through Tasman Glacier, explore the sunken valleys of the Marlborough Sounds by kayak - and that’s just a taste of the experiences on offer when you choose to go Off-Grid with us.

Experience sustainable living

We’re passionate about protecting New Zealand’s unique beauty and heritage. That’s why take you off the beaten track, to ‘second cities’ and remote lodges, and work with local, eco-conscious suppliers. But that’s not all: from visiting the Treadright-supported Kiwi Hatchery to providing lunch for a kid in need via local charity Eat My Lunch, this trip is packed with sustainable experiences that are as inspirational as they are educational.
