Sun, sights and so many good vibes: San Francisco’s got everything a traveler could ask for. One of the iconic West Coast cities, take some time to soak up all the history, culture and food of this fabulous place.
One of the first things you’ll want to do in this city is see the San Francisco Golden Gate Bridge. Head down to the bay and cross this awesome suspension bridge the way travelers do: by foot or by bike. Then, make your way over to nearby Golden Gate Park, a massive complex that boasts gardens, greenery and some pretty amazing museums. Art lovers, be sure to check out the de Young Museum and the Museum of Asian Art while you’re here.
Walk across to the east side of the park, where you’re a stone’s throw away from Haight Ashbury. This district is most famous for being the center of the hippy movement of the 60s and 70s, especially for its role in the 1967 Summer of Love. Cruise down these streets to discover vintage stores and funky eateries. If you’re around in June, the Haight Ashbury Street Festival is one you won’t want to miss.
Talking about history, every spot in San Fran is full of it. Starting in Union Square, hitch a ride on one of the city’s cable cars, the oldest manually-operated cable car system in the world. Go right down to Fisherman’s Wharf, where you can check out the Exploratorium, spot some sea lions and pick up a crab roll. If you want to explore a little feature off-shore, jump on a ferry and head to Alcatraz, where you can tour the famous Alcatraz federal prison.
When it comes to food, there’s so much variety in San Francisco that you’ll never be bored. Pick up the original mission burrito at Taqueria La Cumbre and rush down to Yasukochi's Sweet Stop for an early-morning sweet stop before their famous coffee crunch cake sells out. Eat, drink and explore your way through sunny San Francisco.

Named after its area of origin, mission-style burritos are San Franciscan natives. This signature style is bigger than regular burritos and marked the inclusion of rice among its traditional ingredients, meat, beans, salsa and guac. Pick up the O.G. mission burrito at Taqueria La Cumbre in the Mission District.

The first and oldest brewery in the US, Anchor Brewing Company calls San Francisco home. Staying true to their heritage, they make a malt beer in traditional copper machinery. Take a tour of their facilities followed by a beer tasting, or pick up a glass of Anchor steam beer at one of the city’s many bars and diners.

If you’re visiting one of the most iconic donut shops in the States, it’d be weird to suggest getting a pastry, right? That’s because this apple fritter is actually a donut. And it’s huge. Filled with apples and covered in glaze, this hunk of donut is seriously addictive.
Best eaten at
Bob's Donut & Pastry Shop, 1621 Polk St, CA 94109
For over 40 years, Yasukochi’s Sweet Stop has been serving up sweet treats in Japantown. The thing that put them on the map? Their coffee crunch cake. A light, fluffy coffee-flavored sponge cake with whipped cream frosting and covered in crunchy, coffee-flavored candy. Pick up a slice or two, but get there before lunch time because these cakes sell out early.

Yasukochi's Sweet Stop, 1790 Sutter St, CA 94115
Set inside an old train carriage, Grubstake serves up Portuguese-style favorites in San Fran. Our pick? Try the caldo verde. This kale soup is thickened with pork or Portuguese chouriço, with pureed potatoes and lots of garlic. It’s the perfect comfort food on a cold day.

Grubstake, 1525 Pine St, CA 94109
