Sisters are doing it for themselves.
Arriving in Iraq al-Amir, surrounded by stunning limestone cliffs of the Jordan Valley, you’ll be warmly welcomed with a traditional hot mint tea by the Cooperative Society. The women who live here engage in numerous entrepreneurial activities, providing opportunities for the local community, preserving the area’s unique heritage and developing skills for unmarried women and girls: from creating gorgeous ceramic to hosting hikers who are making their way through the Jordan trail. You’ll spend some time baking traditional bread, spinning the pottery wheel or hand painting, as you hear their inspirational stories of resilience, hope and sisterhood.
