This trip was, in many ways, one of the best trips I've ever taken so far! Mainland Ecuador is beautiful and Contiki really did an awesome job in choosing the towns in Ecuador that were so different from each other. My trip manager Mayra was amazing! Super knowledgeable and passionate about her country and she always gave amazing suggestions for food! There were a lot of included activities in the Galapagos Islands, including an opportunity to snorkel at Kicker Rock, that made the tripwell worththe cost! Be prepared to take multiple swimsuits on this trip, because between the Galapagos and all the me time activities they offer on the mainland, you will need them. Also pack twice as many outfits as you think you will need for a Galapagos because you will sweat through all of your clothes in the first 2 days and it is hard to get laundry done anywhere they are except for San Cristobal Island. Also, make sure you bring all your Essentials like sunscreen and bug spray because these things are extremely expensive on the Galapagos Islands. Bring a reusable water bottle because even though you cannot drink tap water in Ecuador or the Galapagos, all of the hotels and quite a few stores have water tanks filled with drinkable water so it is not difficult to refill your water bottle throughout the day while still helping the environment. They do not need to be travel-size to bring them with you. I really feel like some of the me time activities should be included in the price of the trip, especially if there is literally nothing else to do in the town you were in in lieu of that activity. A good example of this is the community visit we did while in Tena. It was honestly one of the best days of the trip, and it was such a unique experience too. I felt safe in doing all of the mainland Me time activities. The people who handled the activities we're really consider it and making sure we felt comfortable and safe at all times of the activity while still making sure we had an amazing time! The one activity they could work on is the biking activity in san cristobal. I expected there to be better of use while biking. I also wish they had personally checked every bike to make sure the air in the tires was just right and that the brakes were working for all the bikes. I myself had gone into a bike accident because the brakes did not take while we were going downhill and the tire later popped from having too much air. Having said that, the naturalistic guides and Mayra took all the necessary precautions to make sure I was okay after the accident. I also feel like contiki could do a better job in informing us of the full nature of the activities we are getting into. For example, the biking activity has it included chance to snorkel within the price of the biking but this was not initially advertised. Apart from these things, Ecuador and the Galapagos Hopper really was an amazing trip, and I really hope more people will go!
