There were strikes during our holiday. This wasn't publicised widely online so we knew nothing of it despite some strikes occurring before we even arrived. I understand that this sort of thing is out of Contiki's hands but a good service usually informs travellers of important information such as that before travel. It turned out that formal strikes were called whiles we were in the amazon- I was informed by a traveller on another tour. As a group we were informed once we reached Cusco. A long story short we were unable to go to Machu Picchu and Contiki were great in terms of getting us back to Cusco and sorting accommodation. We received a refund for the train and entry to Machu Picchu ONLY. To receive a higher score an international company such as Contiki should have 1, emailed us as soon as strikes started 2, kept us up to date throughout 3, offered a small percentage off next Contiki booking as Machu Picchu is the reason why most people booked (as a show of good faith).
