DAY 1 - San Francisco to Sonoma
Welcome to San Fran! A fittingly lively spot to kick off our adventure. After meeting and greeting your Contiki crew, we'll get straight on the road to Sonoma. It's only a short drive so psych yourself up for a LOT of mud. The Tough Mudder course awaits.
It's time for the Tough Mudder! 10k of legendary obstacles designed to test your spirit and your teamwork. The mud takes no prisoners, but once you and your crew have smashed the course, we've got some pretty epic rewards waiting. First up: a nice hot shower back at the hotel, of course. Then it's time to switch gears and take some much deserved downtime. We'll spoil ourselves with a food & wine paired dinner at the majestic KJ Winery. (Don't worry, there are non-alcoholic options if you're under 21 or don't like wine). Cheers everyone. You earned it.
DAY 2 - Sonoma
Let's kick off day 2 at a more lesiurely pace, soaking up the beauty of the Russian River, SUP-style. As we glide along on our paddle-boards, we'll admire the lush vineries that are so dependent on the river. Then we'll enjoy some free time for more delicious food, and of course, wine. Speaking of which, why not stop off at the Deerfield Winery for a tasting? Famed for it's commitment to sustainable and 'clean' wine production, Deerfield is a small batch winery with a knack for turning out exceptional drops that you won't easily find at Bev-Mo. Bike hire's up for grabs too, if you haven't had toooo many tipples. As we settle into the Sandman Hotel for the evening, we'll reflect that life doesn't get much better than this, and we're just getting started.
DAY 3 - Sonoma to Bass Lake
Rise and shine! It's early start this morning but, trust us, it's so so SO worth it. For this morning we can opt to watch the sunrise over the glorious Sonoma and Napa Valleys as we soar on a hot air balloon through the bottle-blue skies. A serene and peaceful experience with a view that can't really be compared to anything else. Woah.
Then we're off to Bass Lake, the home to our lake-side digs for the next two nights and base for exploration of the Yosemite tomorrow. Take advantage of the longer summer days with some watersports on the lake before kicking back on your balcony or grabbing dinner at the nearby pizzeria. The evening is yours, and the options are oh-so-tempting.
DAY 4 - Bass Lake via Yosemite National Park
The moment you've been waiting for. Yosemite here we come!
Yosemite National Park
Today will of course centre around the gobsmacking Yosemite Valley but if you're familiar with these parts, feel free to discover a new trail or snap photos of ALLLL the Giant Sequoias from Mariposa Grove to the Wawona Valley Lookout. It's only 12mi round trip – and if you can smash a Tough Mudder you're capable of anything. Never been before? No problem, your Trip Manager knows the best choices for an easy valley loop trail, where to find the most glorious waterfalls and how to catch that reflection of Half Dome in Mirror Lake. We got you.
One final evening together lakeside to kick back and compare our fave photos from the day. Let's just say people on your Insta feed are guna be pretty jealous.
DAY 5 - Bass Lake to San Francisco
Woah, what an adventure. Time to plug back in to reality and make our way back to San Francisco.
We'll drop you off at Union Square by 5pm where we'll say our tearful goodbyes and start contemplating the real world...or another Contiki trip. That's always an option. And let's be honest, isn't it a much better one?
