DAY 1 - Arrive Vancouver

Vancouver

Hello snow angels and welcome to Canada for 9 days you won't be forgetting anytime soon. Check in to our digs and start rubbing shoulders with the crew you'll cover this country with. Spend the afternoon exploring Chinatown and the famous totem poles of the First Nations in Stanley Park, or do a bit of shopping along Robson Street. Vancouver is yours to lap up as you please. Get to know the squad over dinner tonight, then if you're in town at the right time, we might head to the hockey rink to watch the Vancouver Canucks do their thing on the ice.

INCLUDED EXPERIENCES

  • Visit the Capilano Suspension Bridge

  • Visit the Totem Poles of Canada's First Nations People in Stanley Park

  • City tour of Vancouver

DAY 2 - Vancouver to Whistler

Vancouver

Out of Vancouver, we journey north in search of the mecca of snowsports that is Whistler, via the stunning Sea to Sky Highway. En route, grab your included ticket and we’ll stop to cross the mighty Capilano Suspension Bridge, which stretches 70 metres above a roaring river, and walk amongst the treetops of a magical old-growth forest breathing in your first taste of fresh Canadian mountain air. Ahhh.

Whistler

As gondolas float between snow-capped mountain peaks, this cosy village buzzes with life and powdery flakes coat everything in sight. Spend the afternoon getting acquainted with what is essentially North America’s largest ski resort, perhaps via snowmobile or zip line, before tucking in to a scrumptious (if we do say so ourselves) dinner with the crew.

FREE TIME ADD-ONS

  • Ziplining

    CAD $143.00

  • Snowmobiling

DAY 3 - Whistler

Whistler

It's slopes o'clock! Whether you’re a beginner bound for the bunny hill or a black run bandit who owns the terrain park, Whistler’s diverse grounds have you covered. Rent a board or a set of skis (or if you've brought your own then that's cool with us), then let us hook you up with a deal on a lesson and get ready to shred. If you’ve got the energy for après, there could even be a pub crawl on the cards tonight.

FREE TIME ADD-ONS

  • Ski or Boarding - 1 day lift pass

  • Ski or Boarding - 2 day lift pass

  • Full Day Lesson (includes equipment rental, 1-day lift pass & ski or snowboard lessons)

  • Vallea Lumina Multimedia Experience

DAY 4 - Whistler

Whistler

If you’re not keen to drag your aching body back up the mountain today, there’s plenty to do downtown. Take a stroll through the snow, pamper yourself at a day spa or just maintain a steady flow of hot chocolates and watch the world go by. For those back up the mountain, the same deal as yesterday applies, pow pow! Tonight, re-group with the crew to discuss just how awesome this mountain playground is over dinner. Tomorrow, a new spot beckons...let's do this.

FREE TIME ADD-ONS

  • Snowmobiling

  • Ski or Boarding - 1 day lift pass

  • Ski or Boarding - 2 day lift pass

  • Full Day Lesson (includes equipment rental, 1-day lift pass & ski or snowboard lessons)

DAY 5 - Whistler to Banff

Whistler

It’s time to farewell Whistler’s perfect powder and jump on a plane to Calgary so we can head to the other-worldly beauty of Banff National Park.

Banff

You may have seen photos of Banff on your computer’s desktop background, but nothing can prepare you for how ridiculously good-looking it is in real life. It’s been a long day of travel, so dinner’s on us – eat up and get some rest so you can jump out of bed early tomorrow and explore.

INCLUDED EXPERIENCES

  • Visit Banff National Park

DAY 6 - Banff

Banff

Banff is nestled in the Rocky Mountains, so if you feel like getting nose-deep in powder again, you have three resorts to choose from - Mt Norquay, Lake Louise and Sunshine all offer a solid mix of relaxed and adventurous terrain. The town’s epic range of bars means there are countess places to choose from should you be keen to burn the candle at both ends.

FREE TIME ADD-ONS

  • Helicopter Flight

    CAD $ 183.56

  • Ski or Boarding - 1 day lift pass

  • Ski or Boarding - 2 day lift pass

DAY 7 - Banff

Banff

Soak up Banff’s beauty from another angle today – perhaps take a helicopter ride over the snow-laden mountains, or go for a hike on the Johnston Canyon Icewalk which can only be described as spectacular. With thundering waterfalls, imposing cliffs and ice tenticles everywhere, it's a perilous nature lovers paradise. Of course for some the mountain is always going to call, so try out a new resort or head back to one of your favourites. Come the evening, we could re-group and soak our bones in the hot springs, swaping stories of our day.

FREE TIME ADD-ONS

  • Helicopter Flight

    CAD $ 183.56

  • Ski or Boarding - 1 day lift pass

  • Ski or Boarding - 2 day lift pass

  • Dog Sledding

DAY 8 - Banff

Banff

Those sick of riding downhill will be pleased to note they can give cross-country skiing a whirl at Sunshine, or if you want to make someone else do all the work, consider a spot of dog-sledding. Get arty in the afternoon at one of the town's many galleries. Over a drink tonight we will contemplate some seriously epic days of wintery wonder.

FREE TIME ADD-ONS

  • Dog Sledding

  • Johnston Canyon Night Icewalk

DAY 9 - Banff to Calgary

Banff

What better way to bid Banff farewell than a group gondola ride up to Sulphur Mountain. This could possibly be one of the best views you'll ever see, and the highest views in the Rockies at 2281m overlooking the Boy Valley. Afterwards, we’ll hit the road again and head to Calgary where the tour will come to an end - sob.

Frequently Asked Questions

Questions group

What health and hygiene protocols are in place on trip?

The health and wellbeing of everyone who travels with Contiki has been, and always will be, our top priority. That’s why we’ve rigorously evaluated our experiences, training and protocols to make sure we not only meet our travellers wellbeing expectations, but exceed them in every single way. We sought guidance from the World Health Organisation and government agencies, and, as members of the World Travel and Tourism Council, we’ve been involved in defining global protocols. Due to our diligent work during this time, we’ve been awarded the WTTC safe travels stamp - meaning we’re a business which has adopted global, standardised health and hygiene protocols. You can find details about how we’re prioritising your wellbeing when you travel with us here.

What documents do I need to travel?

Depending on your nationality, you may require visas to enter the USA and Canada on your trip. You are fully responsible for obtaining all necessary visas prior to the departure of your trip. You can find more info at https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov. Contiki is not legally permitted to knowingly allow anybody who does not have a valid visa to join a trip. Visa and other entry & exit conditions (such as currency, arrival/departure taxes, customs and quarantine regulations) do change regularly.

Your passport must have at least six months’ validity remaining when you arrive. Local immigration authorities may deny entry and deport people who do not meet this requirement, even if they only intend to stay for a short period. Important to consider:

• Visas can take up to six weeks and a fee is normally charged
• Failure to obtain all necessary visas could cause you to miss part of
your trip and will result in you incurring considerable expense and
inconvenience
• It is better for you to apply for all visas before you leave home
• It is essential that the entry and exit dates are correct on the visa

What are the luggage restrictions?

On our American trips you can bring one bag or suitcase of 73 x 50 x 25 cm (or 29” x 20” x 10”), with a max weight of 20 kg (44 lbs) & one piece of hand luggage.

What do the Contiki team do?

People are at the heart of everything we do, and our team is what makes our trips the best. Our worldwide On-Road Team, locally based staff & network of Local Guides are all extensively trained & widely travelled, & are the best in the business. But we know it’s not just about training, it’s about passion & our team have it in their blood. Their passion for getting you in the know on every single detail of America is what makes our travellers walk away from their experience knowing that they made every moment count. Your Trip Manager is like your walking, talking guidebook – just for you. They plan your itinerary every day, organise your food and accomodation and book your Free Time Add ons, and because they know everything about where you’re going, you will too. Your Drivers are the experts on getting you from A to B efficiently and safely in North America. They know their way around like the back of their hands & they’ll drop you at your door & unload your bags for you. Local guides provide specialist knowledge when you need it and will always help you avoid the tourist traps.

What's not included that I should budget for?

Aside from essentials like flights, how much spending money you’ll need will depend on the duration of the trip and how much you anticipate spending on personal expenses like alcohol or shopping. Before you travel, it’s also a good idea to read up on and get an idea of the Free Time Add-Ons you think you’ll want to do on trip, as these will form part of your overall budget. We’d advise doing some research on your chosen destinations beforehand, looking at things like:

- Cost of a local lunch

- Cost of a local dinner

- Cost of a bottle of water

- Cost of entry to a sightseeing spot

Tipping is customary in North America. It is an accepted practice in all areas of the service industry, & particularly in restaurants, bars, hotels & taxis. It’s common practice to tip if you feel that the service provided has been excellent.
The same goes for your Contiki Team. If you feel that your Trip Manager & Driver’s service has been exceptional, then feel free to tip them if you feel they’ve done a great job. If you choose to tip, we recommend around US$3 per person per day, however whether or not you choose to tip (& how much) is up to you.

Will I be able to access WiFi on my trip?

We love WiFi, and keeping your accounts updated as you travel is key! The hotels all have WiFi where you can access your email to let your friends & family know you have arrived safely in Los Angeles, or email after your trip with all your stories.

What are Contiki’s sustainability credentials?
