What are the key attractions covered on most coach tours in Europe?

Contiki’s coach tours to Europe are designed to offer a blend of iconic sites and hidden gems too. For example, if your chosen trip includes Paris and Rome, you’ll see the Eiffel Tower and the Roman Colosseum, but you’ll also get the chance to join authentic experiences such as a French perfumery visit, or a pasta-making class in Rome.

What is the typical daily schedule like on a coach tour in Europe?

On a drive day, you’ll usually have breakfast at your hotel/ hostel in the morning, then drive to another town for lunch, continue driving in the afternoon and arrive in the next location by late afternoon. We’ll do a bit of exploring, then have dinner followed by a free evening and some more exploring the next morning.

How do coach tours in Europe accommodate stops for sightseeing and relaxation?

Contiki trips are all about balance. Sightseeing is factored into each itinerary, so you’ll always have time to check out the main attractions – this could be guided walking tours with the Trip Manager or a specialist local guide, or free time where you can explore however you like. You can also choose to relax during your free time, and of course there are the coach journeys where you can sleep, read, listen to music/podcasts, or spend time chatting with the group.

What unique scenic experiences can travelers enjoy from the comfort of a coach tour in Europe?

There are many beautiful views in Europe that can only be seen by road. Think scenic drives through the Swiss Alps, or majestic Mediterranean views on the drive from Nice to Monaco.

How much free time do I have to explore independently on a coach tour in Europe?

Plenty! Contiki’s Europe coach trips offer a brilliant balance of planned experiences and free time too. During two-night stops, you’ll usually have the late afternoon/evening to explore the city, followed by a full day the next day.

What type of luggages should I carry on my coach travel to Europe?

For most Europe coach trips, the luggage allowance will be:

  • One decent-sized suitcase, approx 29” × 20” × 10” (73cm x 50cm x 25cm) with a maximum weight of 20 kilos.
  • Plus one small hand/day bag that you can take to your seat with you.

Can I choose my seat on a coach tour?

You can’t reserve a seat in advance, but you are free to choose where you sit as you board the coach.

What facilities can I expect aboard the coach?

On our coaches, you’ll find air conditioning, reclining seats and a toilet. Most European coaches have Wi-Fi and USB charging ports too.
