Your Host for this trip is Molly. Molly is an outdoor enthusiast, with a passion for exploring her home country. Nothing makes her happier than showing off one of England’s most beautiful regions to her travellers and sharing her insider knowledge on the best places to eat, shop and take those magic Instagram shots. Alongside Molly, you’ll meet our Professional and Experienced Climbing Guides. They have been scaling the ledges, gorges and caves of the Peak District for years and know where to find all the best spots to Hike, Bike and Climb no matter your ability level. Together, our team will make sure your mini break in the Peak District is one to remember forever.
Welcome to Castleton! Our home for the next 3 nights is a fully refurbished Victorian gothic mansion set in formal gardens and 27 acres of parkland, in the heart of the Peak District National Park. With vast grounds, comfortable rooms and licensed bar, this is the perfect base for us to explore the best of the Peak District.
After checking in, our trusted trip manager will give us an orientation of this charming little village, located in the High Peak district of Derbyshire, England. We’ve got a few hours to explore the area and discover the picturesque scenery, the dramatic skyline of the Mother Hill, and the ruined Norman castle. In the evening, we’ll kick back and feast on a welcome dinner at one of the local restaurants.
Today it’s an early start so we can make the most of our time at Stanage Edge, an incredible landscape with stunning views of the Dark Peak moorlands and the Hope Valley, and recently featured in the classic film ‘Pride & Prejudice’. First we’ll grab some breakfast, then set out for a full day of fully guided peak hiking with a licensed professional, including a climbing & abseiling lesson, all followed by a delicious included picnic lunch. Later we’ll return to our digs and take a bit of time to unwind before a free evening, where you can find your own local dinner in Castleton.
Ready for another day of adventure? Today we’re taking the bus to Derwent Valley, Derbyshire's answer to the Lake District. A half day, fully guided, off-road mountain bike tour will give us a taste of its majestic reservoirs, spectacular scenery, peaceful forests and wild open spaces. After this burst of adrenaline, you’ll have the afternoon to yourself, but we’ll meet up again in the evening for a delicious dinner in the village.
Our trip comes to an end, but we’ve made plenty of memories! We’ll enjoy one final breakfast together before exchanging contact details and checking out. Ready for more of the great outdoors? Check out our Hiking and Bushcraft trip in the Lake District and explore more of England’s beautiful rugged countryside.
