INTRODUCTION TO BEIJING

With the perfect blend of history, tradition, culture and innovation, ancient and modern worlds collide in Beijing, China. As China’s capital city, Beijing’s roots run deep. Between the wars of ancient empires, the overthrow of the Emperor in the 1920s and the Cultural Revolution of the 60s, it’s safe to say this city has seen some things. Get psyched to do the same.

With so much to see and do, you won’t want to waste a minute exploring Beijing. Between the majesty of the Forbidden City, the grandeur of the Great Wall and the beauty of the Ming Dynasty Temple Complex, you’ll get a taste of what life was once like for the royals. Once you’ve ticked those off your bucket list, dive straight into some lesser-known Beijing attractions. Scale a mountain via Dragon at the Longqing Gorge, gaze over the countryside at Fragrant Hills and slide down the Great Wall on the back of a toboggan.

If learning is more your thing, Beijing has plenty of museums to sink your teeth into. Get lost in the National Museum of China, spending hours pouring over ancient scrolls and artefacts. If you’re a fan of science, geek out at the Science and Technology Museum, or catch a light show at the Beijing Planetarium. All the hipsters and art lovers will drool over the theatrics of Chinese cinema at the China Film Museum.

If you’re here for a good time but not a long time, we suggest hitting the streets for the best food in Beijing. Between Peking Duck, Jing Jiang Rou Si and all of the dumplings, definitely make sure you come to Beijing hungry. Check out some of the many eateries along old hutongs (alleyways) or in the night markets. Between Chinese New Year, the Dragon Boat Festival and one of the many music events happening throughout the year, there are so many things to do in Beijing.

Packed with fun and adventure, bite off more than you can chew on a Beijing holiday.
