Spending money when it comes to travel is soooo worthwhile, however it can be a little daunting. I mean, it’s a big chunk to go, and though it’s put towards something potentially life changing, your wallet can be left looking a little empty…

Booking in advance is a great option to combat this! This way, you can pay in smaller amounts at a time, and also it’s so exciting to have something to look forward to.

But on the flip side, deals can really come in handy too. Especially last minute travel deals, which are just about the best thing you can come across, and we’ve got all the tips and tricks to help you get the most fabulous ones.

1. Be flexible

The key to snagging last minute travel deals is to be flexible. They’re called last minute for a reason, so you’re going to want to be ready to pack your suitcase and go at any time! Could be stressful for some, but what a spontaneous adventure for others – in fact, 73% of respondents in our Voice of a Generation survey said they’d book a trip departing in 10 days!

Just make sure you have enough annual leave saved and you’re golden.

2. Set alerts

The thing about last minute deals is that many people want them, so they tend to go fast. In order to hop on the best ones, we’d definitely recommend setting alerts to your favourite tour brands (👀) or airlines.

3. Subscribe to newsletters

Similar to the above, if there are any travel brands you feel particularly loyal to (again 👀), you should consider signing up to their mailing list or any loyalty programmes. Oftentimes, last minute deals (and other discounts!) will be made available there, and you may be one of the first to know.

Broadcast channels on Instagram are a great way to stay up to date as well! You can join them and brands will post deals and other news in the chat – maybe check ours out?

4. Use points!

This one’s more about getting cheap flights, but if you’re getting last minute deals then you’re going to need a way to get there. Luckily, plenty of airlines sell unsold seats for a cheaper price – you just need to keep an eye on it! You can do this with newsletters and alerts as well, and if you have air miles (often gotten from credit cards) then make sure to use those as well.
