Figuring out what the most loved countries around the world are isn’t exactly a science – it really just depends who you ask, doesn’t it – love is in the heart of the traveller! You could scour data, ask all your globe-trotting besties, maybe even consult a travel horoscope to find your perfect match.
For our part, we’ve done a mix of all that – because we’re experts, and experts do that, duh – and we’ve gotten insights directly from our travellers! So, in no particular order, here are the 10 most loved countries around the world.
1. Japan
From the fantastic Japanese foodie scene, to Kawaii culture, the countless beautiful shrines, and the clash of past and future – Japan is a true sight to behold. The culture itself is a reason to visit as you’ll get a taste of deep tradition, crazy futuristic innovations, and influential designs and fashion. But don’t forget cherry blossom season, the incredible powder snow for skiing, the wildlife like deer in Nara and snow monkeys in Hokkaido, the summer festivals, and so much more.
The 2024 Travel and Tourism Development Index marked Japan as the 3rd most visited country that year, and the 1st most visited in Asia. This island nation is a treasure trove and you can have plenty of adventures all year round.

2. Greece
How can this Aegean paradise not be on this list? I mean, Greece really has everything. Gorgeous views, history older than time, Mythology and accompanying temples, delicious and healthy food, and glittering seas all around!

3. France
France has been topping various ‘most visited countries’ lists for years and years now – it remains one of the most touristic places in the world, and for very good reason. The heart of this is Paris, of course, the City of Love where many travellers dream to go, and Emily in Paris has definitely been fanning those lovely tourism flames!
But the rest of France is worth exploring as well. Aquamarine coasts along the French Riviera, rich history and culture which spans centuries, and of course the many regal castles to set your eyes on. There’s museums all over the place, and plenty of buttery flaky pastries to keep you full. Do you need any more reasons?

4. Canada
If you want to pick the most loved countries based on reputation alone, then we have to talk about Canada. The Reputation Institute (who knew that was a thing!), an international consulting firm, runs a yearly report to determine the countries with the best reputations worldwide, and Canada is the BEST!
I mean, the people are just so warm and welcoming – you’ll always feel right at home between Montreal and Vancouver. Canada is also the home of poutine, which gives it significant points, and the natural beauty of this country is just off the charts. Mountains, forests, lakes, vibrant cities, and a whole lot of charm. It speaks for itself really.
5. Italy
According to our Voice of a Generation survey, Italy was the second most desirable country to travel to for globetrotters between the ages of 18-35. 9% picked it as their top wishlist destination, and we totally get it to be honest. If you’re not travelling to Italy for the pizza and pasta, then you’re travelling for the coasts and countryside. And if you’re not travelling for the coasts and countryside, then you’re travelling for the fashion. 6. Croatia
The Game of Thrones fans are really winning with this one. Croatia is one of the most loved countries in the world and it has been climbing the ranks in recent years. Equipped with coasts and national parks (have you been to Plitvice? It’s a vision in turquoise), blessed by the sun and gorgeous weather, you can have a history-filled blissful few days here. It also helps that Croatia remains relatively affordable for European vacations thanks to the fact it’s only just emerging from the road less travelled by… So make sure you get there soon!
7. Thailand
If you’re looking for heaven on earth, it really doesn’t get much better than Thailand – specifically the Thai Islands. The love for Thailand is enduring and it will probably last forever. Travellers around the world are obsessed with the country’s sheer beauty and diverse landscapes.
The waters are emerald green, the beaches are pristine, the jungles lush and the temples that dot the cities and landscapes are totally captivating. Plus there’s plenty of touching and ethical wildlife experiences to be had like aiding orphaned elephants. And don’t get us started on the food!

8. New Zealand
Though it’s all the way at the ends of the world, New Zealand is so worth the trip. You’ll arrive in a world of true wonder. Come for the adventure and stay for the stunning sights and the friendliest locals ever. You can skydive and hike and ski, you can swim and lounge on the beach and sip wine. You can discover Māori culture and customs like Matariki and learn something new, and you can emerge from New Zealand a whole different person.

9. Costa Rica
Costa Rica is a total gem because it is home to virtually untouched natural landscapes. The glory of this Latin American country lies in the thick lush rainforests, the waterfalls that crash and awe, the volcano national parks, the rainbow-coloured birds, and everything else in between.
If you ever want to indulge in the world’s beauty, then Costa Rica is the place for you! It’s not hard to understand why it’s one of the most loved countries – and its popularity is only rising, with the number of tourists rising by 14.5% in the first half of 2024 – so hurry.

10. Mexico
Last but certainly not least, Mexico is beloved across the globe because of the way the cities and the ancient architecture and food makes us feel. Fall in love with vibrant and cheerful culture all over the country, and fill your belly with the bestest and spiciest street food that’s sure to make you feel alive. There’s cenotes to swim in, Aztec temples and ruins to uncover, and plenty of good vibes (and tequila) to sip on or sink shots of.
