Day 4: Free day in Kota Kinabula
Today, you call the shots! Feeling adventurous? Head to Ara Dinawan Island for a day of kayaking and snorkeling. Think crystal-clear waters, vibrant marine life, and enough sun to make your friends at home jealous. Not a water baby? No problem. How about a bike tour of Borneo’s countryside, where you’ll pedal through charming villages, lush landscapes, meet the local Dusun people and learn about rubber farming?
Day 5: Sandakan Memorial Park and Turtle Hatching on Selingan Island
Today, your Borneo trip takes a reflective turn with a visit to the Sandakan Memorial Park, a beautifully maintained site honouring the region’s WWII history. Then it’s time to switch gears with an unforgettable stop at Selingan Island. By nightfall, you’ll witness the magic of turtle hatching, as baby turtles make their brave crawl to the ocean and possibly even see a mother turtle laying her eggs! Day 6: Puu Jih Shih Temple & Rainforest Discovery Centre

It’s a perfect place to soak up some zen vibes before diving back into adventure at the Rainforest Discovery Centre. Day 7: Sepilok
Today is all about wildlife conservation. First up: the adorable residents of the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre. Watch these tiny (and surprisingly agile) bears in their natural habitat as they climb, forage, and generally steal the show. Then, visit the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre to meet rescued orangutans and learn how they’re being prepared for a life back in the wild.
Day 8: Kinabatangan
Rise and shine – it’s safari time! Today you can go on an early morning Kinabatangan River safari. The wildlife here is next-level, with sightings of rare monkeys, hornbills, and gibbons almost guaranteed. If you’re lucky, you might even catch a glimpse of pygmy elephants enjoying a morning splash. It’s nature at its most magical (and a must-have on your Borneo itinerary!).

Day 9: Goodbye, Sandakan
