Your parents probably drilled into you the importance of sharing from a young age, but for the Swiss village of Bergün/Bravuogn they’ve happily ignored their mother’s recommendations and decided their village is simply too beautiful to let it’s image be shared on the internet.
Yep, Bergün/Bravuogn has banned photography.
The decision arose after the locals came to realise that their little slice of heaven was so breathtaking, they didn’t want travellers coming to their town and not be able to take the next-level eye candy in because they were too busy hiding behind a phone, snapping away. The people of Bergün/Bravuogn want tourists to really experience the colours of the little mountain oasis, and the best way to do that is pull a North West and say “I said no pictures!”

The Swiss tourism board explains their actions, saying it’s really to protect people’s feelings: “It is scientifically proven that beautiful holiday photos on social media make the viewer unhappy because they cannot be there themselves.”
With a vista of snow-capped mountains, cobblestone lanes, fields of wildflowers and quaint churches, we can kind of see where they’re coming from.

Of course this has hardly stopped snappers in their tracks, despite it being hard to deny it really is a stunning town. There’s also no word on whether they ~actually~ enforce the no photo rule, but rumour has it you could be fined five Swiss franc (around $6.50 AUD or £4) if caught red-handed.
