Les Catacombes de Paris
Paris is home to famous catacombs in an underground tunnel that stretches 3,000k underneath the city. Back in the 18th century, public burial pits began overflowing, so the bones of six million people were transferred to this ossuary, where a damp, dark tunnel leads you to a sign that states, “Stop! This is the empire of death.” It takes about 45 minutes to tour the catacombs, which stay chill at an approximate 55*F. Talk about giving us the chills!
Follow the Ripper’s Footsteps in London
Talk about spooky. Jack the Ripper’s story is legendary; an infamous serial killer whose identity was never revealed. Take a stroll down the streets of London that, in 1888, were known for the mystery killer who came out of the shadows to wreak havoc and disappeared into the night without a trace. Hear the tales and try to see if you could solve the case of Jack the Ripper!
Visit the Church of Skulls in Prague
The church is ‘decorated’ with the bones of 40,000 people. There is an urban myth that partially blind monks who took care of the chapel were the first to begin piling the bones into geometric shapes.
Capuchin Crypt beneath the Capuchin Church of the Immaculate Conception
The remains of hundreds of Capuchin friars were assembled in a burial crypt below the Capuchin Church in Rome. There are a total of six rooms as the bones are assembled in intricate patterns and even light fixtures. It is free to enter, but donations are recommended. It’s very easy to access through the Rome public transportation system and certain a sight to behold.
Winchester Mystery House
Have you been to this creepy house? Located in San Jose, California, only an hour from San Francisco, the Winchester Mystery House is rumored to have been cursed for more than 40 years. After the death of her child and spouse, Sarah Winchester (of the Winchester Rifle family), sought the help of a spiritualist to overcome her grief. She was told that her misfortune was due to the fact that her house was haunted. Her eccentricity coupled with a massive fortune and vast rural space that she acquired motivated her to build a 160-room, seven-story home with miles of twisting hallways, staircases, and strange architecture oddities. We wouldn’t want to get lost in this mystery house!
