South America is bursting at the seams with an abundance of vivacious and exploding flavours, from fresh fruits and fine dining, to robust wine and sweet cocktails, and the best of all: coffee! Peru is no exception with three primary growing regions between the north, south, and central regions of the country.

You’ll have no trouble getting your caffeine fix in the capital of this coffee-loving country. If you’re looking for the best coffee in Lima, you’re in luck, because this city is full of excellent coffee shops with something for everyone!

1. Milimétrica Coffee

This minimalist coffee shop was our first stop once we’d landed in Lima, and our first stop every morning for the remainder of our time there, and with good reason!

With a small but bustling cafe in the front, and an extraordinary roastery in the back, Milimétrica delivers some of the best coffee in Lima every. Single. Time. But be warned that coffee is not their only strong suit – the baked goods are simply unmissable!

From buttery flaky croissants to cheesy empanadas, if you’re stopping by Milimétrica you must be sure to grab a treat with your coffee. And don’t forget to stock up on their fresh roasts, a bag of their coffee is most definitely a great Peruvian souvenir for the caffeine addict in your life!

2. Inusual Coffee

When I say that this coffee shop is a hole in the wall stop, I truly do mean it! We stumbled upon Inusual as we were strolling the streets of Barranco in typical Peruvian rain, and needed a stop to warm up. With a bright green door and frame barely big enough to fit through, this small establishment packs big flavour. Inusual is a perfect stop for coffee on the go, with fresh flavours and an eclectic interior. You will not regret stopping by!

3. Colonia & Co.

Though this is technically more of a restaurant or cafe than coffee shop, the coffee here is so incredible that it is most definitely worth mentioning! Their orange latte brings the bright flavours of South America that you would expect, and compacts it into one absolutely delectable drink, as though an orange creamsicle grew up and melted into a cup of espresso. Not to mention, their espresso alone is a treat in and of itself.

For anyone hunting down the best coffee in Lima, Colonia & Co. is not to be missed.

4. Coffee Time

Yet another “hole-in-the-wall” treasure with big doors and funky murals, this unassuming coffee shop doubles as an exceptional roastery. Its walls are lined with fresh coffee bags and bold paintings, while the mounted surfboard speaks to Peru’s surf culture that’s expanding well beyond the coastline. Coffee Time is one of Lima’s best spots for coffee on the go, where locals stop in for a quick espresso or latte on their commute.

Nestled in the artsy Barranco neighborhood, Coleccionista Coffee is where specialty coffee meets contemporary Peruvian culture. This spot is as much a gallery as it is a café, with colorful murals and local art filling the space — a perfect place to sip a beautifully crafted espresso.
