Th holidays are just around the corner and the weather is beginning to cool down, ushering in the fall season & the kick-off for holiday shopping! Here in the States, we’re keeping ourselves warm with a mug of apple cider, or perhaps it’s a Pumpkin Spice latte from your local Starbucks. Do you have a hot drink of choice during the holidays?
Many of you will probably spend the holidays alongside your friends and family, & then there is the mad rush to buy presents and ring in the New Year. Need ideas for celebration? See how you can spend your holidays abroad.
Celebrate Christmas Abroad
Mistletoe. Christmas lights. The smell of pine trees. The sounds of carolers echoing in the distance. The holidays are right around the corner, and we know that many of you might want to change things up this year. So why not have those same sights, sounds, and scents of Christmas but experience them while traveling abroad?
Happy New Year.. From the Future
Celebrating the New Year abroad means that you’ll be celebrating before the clock turns midnight in your own home country. Or you can celebrate outside your home state and give your NYE celebration a bit more flair.
With Contiki, you can find yourself celebrating the New Year in Amsterdam, or check out many of our Winter Europe trips that will take you through many European cities like London or Italy. If you want to stay a bit closer to home, you can check out New Years in San Francisco, New York, Miami, or Las Vegas! They also make great gifts (something to wish for from Santa?)
I’ve celebrated the New Years in China, overlooking the Shanghai waterfront. It was amazing to see bright lanterns take flight in the sky to commemorate the coming of a new year – I got a front row seat to a celebration and culture that was so different from my own – and it is a memory that I will cherish to this day. What made it more fun, was that I got to call my friends and family the following day and celebrate the New Year again, when it finally came time for the clock to strike midnight at home. Double win!
