To mark the 10th anniversary of the iPhone, Apple have released the long-awaited iPhone 10. Costing £999 minimum, the new iPhone has created quite the commotion amongst tech lovers, but with features including wireless charging, a water resistant screen, increased battery life and a vertical 12-megapixel dual-lens camera, the iPhone X may also be the ultimate travel accessory.

Here’s how the phones new features stack up against our travel demands…

Wireless charging

Yes that’s right, the iPhone X enables wireless charging. Thanks to the glass body, the iPhone X adopts the Qi wireless standard, which means it can be charged through the glass back using a Qi-certified charging accessory and Apple’s AirPower charging pad. Making it’s debut in 2018, Apple’s AirPower Pad will have the ability to charge multiple Apple devices, including the Apple Watch Series 3, AirPods and of course the iPhone 10.

The perks when travelling? You’ll no longer have to remember to pack the most forgettable of essentials – your phone charger – and you’ll also no longer have to take into consideration what adaptors to buy for each new county you visit.

iPhone X battery life and fast charging

Another pro whilst out and about and on the road is the longer battery duration of the iPhone X – 2 hours longer to be exact. Sure this is all dependent on the usage of your phone, low battery mode etc. But what we can’t argue with is the fast-charging capabilities. Giving your phone 50% charge in just 30 minutes, so all you need to do is pop your phone on charge whilst having a pit stop and you’ll be good to go.

It takes travel selfies to a whole new level

Everyone loves a good travel selfie, and the iPhone X is here to be our new best travel selfie friend. The 7MP front-facing camera adds a portrait mode to your selfies, saying goodbye to the singular fixed-focus camera. Add this to the true depth camera which enables a blur effect on your background (and not your skin like other android cameras) and you’re in for guaranteed selfie success.

And all the other travel photography perks

But of course it’s not just your selfie game that will be strong. The iPhone X also has an infrared camera, flood illuminator, proximity sensor, ambient light sensor, speaker, microphone and face-mapping dot projector, making it the most sophisticated android camera to step on the scene. The result? Some out of this world travel pictures, sure to have your friends and family getting serious FOMO.

Durable & Water resistant

It’s inevitable that your phone will come out worse for wear after your travels, what with constantly being out and about, taking it to the beach, having one too many happy hour cocktails … but that’s one less worry with the iPhone X. The durable all-glass body and extra strengthening ‘surgical-grade’ stainless steel edge makes this a much more durable product then previous models. Plus, the iPhone X is water resistant to a depth of 1 meter for up to 30 minutes, so no stress when capturing some incredible pictures by the sea (but lets not get carried away with underwater selfies).
