The best bars in America: Vegas Edition

Las Vegas Bar

America – the land of bar variety. In this new series we will be taking you through the States on a journey to highlight our favourite bars, city by city. Our first stop – Vegas baby! Stay tuned for the rest of the series, coming soon.

A trip to Las Vegas will almost always include a few surprises, but some quality bar time is pretty much a given. Not every bar is created equal, even in Sin City, and your evenings are too precious to waste in a sub-par bar.

Rachel Bushner is a Contiki Trip Manager in America, and between her own travels and leading travellers through the country she’s collected a pretty deep roster of personal favourites in the bar department. These are 4 of her favourite spots in Las Vegas:

Ghostbar

Awesome music, epic views. The DJs play great throwbacks as well as current hits, but the real draw is definitely the view. Ghostbar is on the 55th floor of the Palms and has both an indoor and outdoor area. The patio has a glass bottom floor and a balcony with a stunning panorama of the entire Vegas strip at night. It’s definitely a classic Vegas bar done right and a guaranteed good time.

Fat Tuesday

100% delicious and 100% worth the brain freeze. These slushy stalls are in conveniently placed locations around Las Vegas Blvd. Slushy drinks are huge in Las Vegas but this company is my favorite by far. They are SO refreshing when you’re walking around in the 45°C heat of summer and are also priced really well. The High Octane/Hurricane mix plus an extra shot for $1 will absolutely get you buzzed before heading out for the night.

O’Sheas

Vegas luck + Irish luck = the probable birthplace of Daft Punk’s ‘Get Lucky’. You really can’t go wrong at a good Irish pub with a Vegas twist.  O’Sheas is on the LINQ pedestrian walkway and it recently got a fab facelift. It’s got beer pong tables which are always the best and casino table games which I’ve personally won money playing. After you’ve used up all of your luck there’s also a great patio area which serves tasty Irish fare as well.

Minus 5 Ice Bar

There are so many puns that could be made about how it’s a ‘cool’ experience and a great place to ‘chill’, but it actually is. This place is great for a frozen experience you won’t find in every city. This ice cave provides you with parkas and gloves and serves delicious vodka drinks in ice cups. It’s my personal oasis in the desert, and my favourite spot to beat the sweltering Vegas summer heat.
