Sir David Attenborough is the hero this world needs right now. People of all ages love his thoughtful animal commentary and environmental awareness messages. Some love it so much they’ve launched an Attenborough-themed nightclub!
Dubbed ‘The Jungle Boogie’, the club night has taken English universities by storm. Founded by Will Burbage and Louis Jadwat while they were attending Leeds University, the pair wanted a fun way to celebrate everyone’s love for the King of Nature.
“We saw the immense popularity of him amongst students in that every Sunday people would love watching Blue Planet and Planet Earth so thought it would be great to pay homage to him,” Louis told The Independent, “The first two nights in Leeds and Liverpool went down a treat with both pretty much selling out.”
Besides it being a great party, the club night is themed to be all things Attenborough which means there is even a life-size cardboard cut-out of the man himself for those keen to grab a pic. Louis explains, “the concept of ‘Jungle Boogie’ is that we transform a venue into a rainforest, play Blue Planet visuals on a projector and get local DJs to play House, Disco, Funk and Soul.”
Perhaps the best thing about ‘The Jungle Boogie’ though, is its ability to spread an environmental message in a fun way. A portion of each ticket sale is donated to rainforest conservation organisation, World Land Trust, which Sir David Attenborough patrons so not only will you have a good time, but you’ll also be doing some good for the earth while you’re at it. .
If you’re in England, you need to get yourself to ‘The Jungle Boogie’ which is touring the nation, getting bigger and better each time. Next up is Cambridge, Oxford, Brighton, Southampton, Cardiff and Leamington Spa. BYO binoculars and dulcet narrating voice. Attenborough would be so proud.
