New York
The Bagel Store, 754 Metropolitan Ave, Brooklyn
It’s the home of the famous rainbow bagel and let us tell you, it’s not a fad if it’s delicious and these massive colourful bagels are just that! Toasted to perfection with a generous filling and just enough chew, it’s worth the visit!

Best Pizza, 33 Havemeyer St, Brooklyn
In our opinion, it lived up to its name! Definitely the best pizza we tried in New York. The triangle and square slices (or pies as they say in NY) were both delicious. The square slice was fluffy with a crunchy base and fresh tomato sauce. The triangle slice was thin and crisp, exact what you want a pizza to be. Perfection!

Xi’an Famous Foods, 81 St Marks Pl, New York
One of Anthony Bourdain’s New York faves, so of course we had to try it out and let me tell you, it did not disappoint! As you walk through this casual eatery and its open kitchen, you are exposed to cooks preparing their famous lamb and hand ripped noodles. We ordered a mixture of dumplings, noodles and their version of a burger. A truly delicious and affordable meal and experience.

Dekalb Food Hall, Basement Level of City Point, 445 Albee Square W, Brooklyn
Visiting a food hall in New York is a wonderful culture experience! Dekalb boasts 40 diverse food vendors under one roof. You can try an iconic Katz Deli sandwich or indulge in some delicious artisan gelato. Whatever you feel like, they have got it!

Juniors Cheesecake, 1515 Broadway, New York
Hands down, absolute best cheesecake we have ever tried in our whole lives, with wonderful service to match! I mean you can’t go to New York without trying cheesecake, so give it a go!

Food Cart Tour, Wall Street and surrounding areas
This is an option on Contiki and it was one of our favourite experiences in New York. The tour takes you to a range of culturally diverse food carts around the city with exceptionally food. On our tour we had some of the best Greek food we have ever had in our lives. It was definitely a highlight of our tour! This tour also caters to all dietary requirements, which is a fantastic bonus.

Miami
Moreno’s Cuba, 1850 Collins Ave, Miami Beach
Traditional Cuban food and amazing mojitos which encapsulate the essence of Miami perfectly, not to mention this place is run by Latin Grammy award winner, Mr Jorge Moreno. We will never forget the amazing Imperial rice they serve here or their delicious share plates filled with ceviche and empanadas. A must visit restaurant in our opinion!

Tap Tap, 819 5th St, Miami Beach
A beautiful Haitian restaurant serving authentic dishes and drinks. We indulged in a fried platter of plantain and goat, stewed oxtail and fried pork with rice. It was one of our favourite meals on the whole trip and it was so amazing to try the gorgeous Haitian cuisine for the first time.

Sarussi Subs, 9836 SW 40th St, Miami
There are many places that make Cubano sandwiches in Miami, but Sarussi Subs has the biggest and best! The bread is slightly toasted inside and encloses a very generous pork and cheese filling. The plantain chips here were also a highlight. An affordable and casual meal that we highly recommend.

Michael’s Genuine Food, 130 NE 40th St, Miami
A gorgeous farm to table dining experience in Miami’s chic design district. This eatery is close to Wynwood Walls so we recommending visiting after your meal!
Azucar Ice Cream Company, 1503 SW 8th St, Miami
Home made Cuban ice cream in Little Havana. The flavours are rich and you can tell that they are natural. It’s also the perfect way to cool down in the Miami Heat. We recommend the guava flavour – yum!

New Orleans
Willie Mae’s Scotch House, 2401 St Ann St
One stop destination for Soul Food and voted ‘America’s best fried chicken’, Willie Mae’s is a must visit! The fried chicken is crispy, juicy and it lives up to its reputation. The sides are also fantastic boasting unforgettable mac n cheese and corn bread!

Dooky Chase, 2301 Orleans Ave
Owned by the Chase family and led by Leah Chase who is known as the Queen of Creole Cuisine (and who’s still manning the stove at 96 years of age). You cannot come to New Orleans without a visit! It’s one of America’s first African American fine dining restaurants and African American art gallery. A culture experience with wonderful service and delicious traditional food.

Café Du Monde, 800 Decatur St
Home of the quintessential New Orleans treat, the beignet, a French style doughnut covered in sugar. Café Du Monde is open 24 hours so you can indulge in a coffee and beignet whenever you like! It’s a New Orleans institution (and a fave of Kimmy K and Beyonce) that is not to be missed.

Gene’s Poboys, 1040 Elysian Fields Ave
A poboy is a famous New Orleans style sandwich often filled with fried oysters, shrimp or hot sausage, amongst other things. Gene’s is famous for being featured in Drake’s ‘in my feelings’ video so as massive fans we just had to visit! We tried a shrimp poboy and it was massive so we definitely recommend sharing.
Drago’s, 2 Poydras St
Located inside the Hilton Hotel, Drago’s is famous for its seafood, in particular its charbroiled oysters. These buttery, garlicky oysters served with a fresh baguette will leave a lasting impression on our stomach forever! Would go back to New Orleans in a heartbeat just for a whole plate of them.
Three Muses, 536 Frenchmen St
A jazz bar and restaurant located on New Orleans historic Frenchman Street. Bask in the sounds of a local Jazz band whilst indulging in lobster Mac n Cheese. It’s the ultimate NOLA experience.
