As a Montreal native, self-proclaimed foodie and fashion lover, it only seemed right to help lifestyle and fashion blogger Karina V fall in love with France for the first time in 2016.

Here’s what she’ll always remember from her time exploring and eating her way through Paris:

The most memorable meal I had was…

A croque-monsieur while sitting outside a picturesque Parisian café giving onto the streets of the Quartier Latin. While I’ve been eating croque-monsieurs, French onion soup, éclairs and other such delicacies my whole life, it was a different experience doing so in France.

My favourite sightseeing spot I found was…

Les Jardins de Luxembourg. I wasn’t familiar with the spot before the trip but it was such a beautiful spot to sit down, people-watch, and snack on some macaroons!

Luxembourg

The best person I met while there was…

Our taxi driver, who sang karaoke with a microphone during our whole drive from Notre-Dame Basilica back to our hotel. He was really making the best out of his profession, and making people smile everywhere he drove. I think that’s what life is all about!

The best night out we had was…

Cabaret night, for sure! It was our first night out together and our first opportunity to really come out of our shells and get to know each other. The show, the food and the drinks were amazing! This was probably our best night out as a group.

French Pastries

The best thing I bought was…

A beautiful perfumed soap from the Fragonard Perfumerie and Museum that we visited.

The most beautiful thing I saw was…

The Parisian architecture! I wasn’t expecting the sheer size of the city; it really blew me away. I couldn’t believe how every street corner was just as beautiful as the next. From the rooftop of Galeries Lafayette, you could see how the stunning Parisian buildings stretched out to the horizon. So impressive!

The craziest thing I did was…

Climb up the Eiffel Tower in the pouring rain!

The best part of the trip was…

Just walking around, discovering hidden spots, going down streets without being sure where we’d end up. We walked so much in Paris… and all with new Contiki friends whom we had just met that day!

Paris

I will always remember Paris as…

A captivating city. There is a feeling that overcomes you when you are in Paris. It’s hard to explain. But when I think back to our days there, I feel it again. It’s a city full of history, passion, diversity and love.
