Every year the people of the Internet vote on which country wins the coveted title of the world’s most beautiful country. Last year, Scotland took out the top spot, but in 2018 it’s all about Italy. Stupefacente!
There are plenty of reasons why Italy scored the top spot in the Magical Planet’s list. Rich culture, out of this world food and bucket list destinations like Rome, Cinque Terre, the Isle of Capri and Florence all helped to secure their place. When you think about the fact that Italy occupies a measly 300,000 square kilometres and yet, is home to the ancient ruins of Pompeii, the Colosseum, ALL those wineries, the birthplace of pizza (ciao Naples), the Statue of David and the stunning views of the Amalfi Coast, it’s a no brainer that Italy is considered numero uno.

Italy is also home to the most UNESCO World Heritage sites in the world, with a whopping 47 priceless art and historical sites and monuments making the cut. It’s little wonder Italy (along with Greece of course) is considered the place where Western civilisation was born.
Rounding out the top 3 most beautiful places in 2018 is Greece in second place, and Germany in third. Greece has arguably some of the most stunning islands in the world, while Germany made the cut thanks to its charming forests, amazing cities and rich history.
