Getting to know: six-two staff writer Gaby Chaudhri

A woman wearing a striped shirt leaning against a wall.

The day job: Producer, Art Director and serial Diet Coke drinker at Contiki.

The place I call home:

London

How long have I been writing for six-two:

A year and a half

How did I get into writing:

I started journaling on my travels around Asia and really enjoyed looking back on my memories. Inspired by this, I picked up a few freelance gigs writing a handful of women’s lifestyle magazines, before landing myself in the wonderful world of travel at Contiki.

My favourite topic to write about:

Because I’m fortunate enough to travel quite extensively for work, I really love sharing my personal tricks and tips on how to get the most out of destinations. As part of my role producing photo and video shoots, I’m always on the look out for the best view points and hidden corners of the destinations I’m working in, so I love sharing these kinds of secrets on six-two for others to enjoy.

My favourite travel destination:

This is a tricky one! If I’m going for pure chills it’s got to be Portugal, for a winter city break, New York never fails to disappoint. And Italy is always food heaven.

My best travel memory:

Sky diving over the Great Barrier Reef in Australia, or arriving at the Sun Gate after 4 days of hiking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, Peru.

My advice for someone looking to get into travel writing:

Have personality in your writing. Be unique and be fearless.

The Contiki trips I’ve loved the most:

Of course the Ultimate Inca Trail. The Japan Unrivalled trip also blew me away, and the European Highlights was an awesome intro into what Contiki is all about (FYI, all the fun).
