Altair teaház
This place is the true definition of a hidden gem. Tucked behind the Hungarian National Museum, this underground tea house can be easily missed but trust me it is worth the visit. From Brightly coloured interior to having to take your shoes off upon entering, sitting pillows, and all the flavours of tea your could ever dream of! I had major japan flashbacks whilst visiting this cosy cafe. Just make sure your socks are on fleek when you visit…
Mr Funk
Anyone else a donut lover? Mr funk offers the most delicious designer donuts with a variety of flavours, including Oreo, strawberry and everyone’s favourite – Nutella. What’s even better about this place is the donuts are truly a work of art. There are so many creative designs to choose from, from unicorns to panda bears and minions. You’ll find it difficult to pick just one!
Aero Park Budapest
Located directly next to Budapest Airport, this a perfect thing to do upon your arrival to Budapest. You can see all sorts of planes from the now-defunct Malév Hungarian airlines with some even dating back to the Soviet era. Some may be a little rusty, but I find it truly fascinating. You can take a peek inside some of the planes and even try operating an aircraft with the help of a simulator.

Zugliget chairlift
The Zugliget chairlift is a fun (and easier) alternative mode of transport to the Buda hills. The chairlift will provide you with views for days whilst taking you up to János hill. From here, it’s a short walk to the Erzsébet lookout tower where an amazing panoramic scene of Budapest awaits you. Whilst you’re up here, you can also access the children’s railway which is fully operated by children (under the supervision of adults) which is a completely different and unusual experience itself.
Budapest Invisibility experience
This is an experience like no other whereby in total darkness you have to navigate yourself around by using a touch, sounds and scent whilst being led by a blind or partially sighted guide. This exhibition really allows you to understand what it is like to live without one of the most important senses, and is a really moving and super eye-opening experience
