Has anyone else ever noticed that Oreos exist in every supermarket and convenience store in the world, but the flavours are always different? For this reason they’ve become my number one travel snack and I love sussing out which Oreo offerings are available in whichever destination I’m in. Over the last nine years of travelling I’m proud to say that this makes me an Oreo expert. EXPERT. This title comes with the qualification to rank the flavours from best to worst.
Disclaimer: Please don’t @ me if you don’t agree, I am the expert, but please @ me if there’s an epic flavour out there I am yet to try and where to find it. What’s available in each country changes all the time (for example Peanut Butter used to only be found in Asia, then one day there it was on the shelves in Australia!).
16. Hot and Spicy Cinnamon Oreo
No. These actually make me sad. I don’t hate cinnamon as a flavour but I hated these with a fiery passion to rival the red filling. Maybe Hot and Spicy Cinnamon as a flavour is something I will never understand because I grew up in Australia and these are mainly available in the USA? Who knows, but I do know that Oreo made a big mistake here. Can we never talk about this flavour again?

15. Lemon Creme Oreo
Blegh, I bet my granny would love these. They’re tangy yet bland and remind me of the cheap biscuits in the family pack that no one wants… except your granny.

14. Strawberry Creme Oreo
Boring and a bad artificial strawberry that overpowers the delicious chocolate Oreo biscuit. They get two points simply for being cute (pink!) and not being as bad as lemon and the Oreo We Shall Not Speak Of.

13. Golden Oreo
These are just like, regular biscuits right? I don’t view Golden Oreo flavours as Oreos to be honest. These are for people who don’t even like Oreos. They don’t inspire me, but they’re also not gross and if you’re someone who enjoys vanilla milkshakes, these are probably for you.

12. Key Lime Pie Oreo
I am a HUGE key lime flavour fan but these are a bit too artificial and limey. Lime and chocolate is a risky mix. Let’s just leave Key Lime in margaritas and pies (and these AMAZING pretzels you can get in America and online).

11. Mint Creme Oreo
Choc mint in general is a divisive flavour and to be honest, I enjoy it. However, I’ve perhaps caved to public opinion here and not ranked them too high because I think you really have to be in the mood for mint, even when sandwiched in delicious Oreo cookies. They’re yummy enough, but not anyone’s first choice.

10. Chocolate Creme Oreo
Now we’re getting somewhere! Double chocolate, double the fun? Not really in this case because the chocolate filling doesn’t quite match the chocolate biscuit flavour. Would eat again, but would also happily share the pack with anyone nearby.

9. Double Stuffed Oreo
Oreo discovered that there’s a crowd of people that want more creme in the middle. Double Stuffed was born, and it then had children in the form of Mega Stuff and Most Stuff Oreos (which look ridiculous). Let’s be sensible with ratios guys, a perfectly balanced Oreo is the original ratio of creme and biscuit.

8. Oreo Thins
Forgetting completely what I just said about ratios of biscuit and filling, Oreo Thins are pretty good. They come in a range of flavours like salted caramel (WOW!), coconut, regular, lemon and mint. The snappy texture is addictive and yummy. As someone who chooses thin crust pizza over deep pan pizza, I vibe them. However they don’t rank as highly as they could, simply because I need to eat 500 before I am satisfied.

7. Birthday Cake Oreo
These are sweet! Birthday cake is one of those flavours that’s kind of a mystery. Cake comes in a wide range of flavours after all. This is basically sprinkles and sugar and that’s a big yes in my books.

6. Red Velvet Oreo
Some people love red velvet and some hate it. I am a lover and I declare these to be wonderful. It seems that there are a couple ~formulas~ of this one running around though, because in the USA the filling is white, but in Australia the filling is kind of yellow. The red biscuit works though and if you ignore the slightly strange after taste these are a firm favourite (which of course means they’re going to be limited edition doesn’t it… sigh).

5. Cinnamon Bun Oreo
I know I ragged on cinnamon and golden biscuits before, but I love both when done right. The taste is pretty close to a cinnamon bun with a rich flavour added in from the biscuit that is reminiscent of a snickerdoodle. But it’s the smell that makes these wildly addictive. I want to bottle this scent. I’d still rather eat an actual cinnamon bun of course, but I wouldn’t share these with other people. Fact.

4. Original Oreo
Original and while not the best, ranks very highly in my books. Don’t mess with a good thing! Oreo knew they’d struck gold right away with the vanilla creme and chocolate biscuit pairing. It’s gold, simple and as we see from this list, a great jumping off point to many fantastic (and less fantastic) places.

3. S’mores Oreo
S’mores Oreos are a real winner. Marshmallow and chocolate creme between graham cracker-flavoured biscuits (so much better than vanilla-flavoured golden ones, see!). They’re not as messy as a real s’mores and arguably not that similar BUT they are delicious.

2. Peanut Butter Oreo
A sweet peanut butter filling between a classic chocolate Oreo biscuit make it the king of Oreos. There are no words to really sum up how great these are. They’re addictive, not overpowering and a confident but not lofty step above the original flavour. I remember my sister sent me four packs of these from her travels in Asia when I was living in Scotland (where you couldn’t get anything besides original Oreos at the time) and I didn’t share a single one with my housemates. None.

1. Cadbury Coated Oreo
Original Oreos are perfect but the sure-fire way to take them to the next level is by… covering them in CHOCOLATE. I know these are common in Australia and I sincerely hope they are for the rest of the world too, because these are so good. OG Oreo, dunked and coated in a creamy chocolate shell, wow. *makes kissy fingers*
