The Christmas season is often a big one. Filled with mince pies. And frivolities. And a lot of fun. It can also be a time where you drink a bit. Or a LOT tbh. And that’s ok, but we also get that as you make your way into the New Year, you may not feel like looking at a pint or a schooner for a little while.

But what if it didn’t have any alcohol in it? Yes, we are of course talking about the non-alcoholic beer. Gone are the days when your options were limited here, but that brings up its own issues – which one do you pick when you’re asked what you want at the bar? That’s why we’ve sat down and sampled a few different tipples from across the globe, and whittled it down to what we consider to be the ten best non-alcoholic beers of 2025. Ikr, it’s a hard life, but someone has to do it.

And if you’re one of the 83% who told us in our most recent Voice of a Generation survey that you would consider a trip without drinking any alcohol, have you heard about our Great Britain and Ireland Sober Curious trip? So you can say yes to a holiday minus a hangover.

Are 0.5% beers non-alcoholic?

Oh, and another thing before we start, you may see a 0.5% alcohol label on some of these beers. For many countries, this means it’s defined as non-alcoholic, for others not, but you’ll find as much alcohol in everyday products you’d get in your groceries such as certain types of bread.

1. Lucky Saint Unfiltered Lager

If you want something cold and refreshing, this one’s for you. Made with Hallertau hops grown in Germany, and brewed with local Bavarian spring water, this one will make you feel like you’re sat in a cute little village square outside Munich on a summer’s evening. (Drinking it out of a stein is optional).

2. Kasteel Rouge 0.0%

One of Belgium’s best. If you’re on a Duolingo streak with your French, you’ll know that means you have a red beer in front of you, but what the name doesn’t tell you is that you’ll get a lovely taste of cherries as you sip this brew down.

3. Guinness 0.0

Ah, the beautiful black stuff. (Or actually, it’s ruby red to be more precise if you want to start an argument with your mates at the pub/bar). Except this stout is slightly different in that there’s no booze in it. The good people of St James’s Gate in Dublin graced us with this creation in 2020, meaning you can split the G without the splitting headache.

4. Nogne Ø Himla Humla Alcohol-free IPA

This is a real citrussy treat. It’s giving pineapple. It’s giving kiwi. Perfect for a day sat on the beach. Or making you wish you were on one at least.

5. Erdinger Alkoholfrei

If you ever wander round one of Germany’s beautiful parks, you might see a runner coming to a stop before grabbing a bottle of Erdinger Alkoholfrei. Why? It contains various vitamins which help you to feel a lil less tired, and give a bit of a boost to your immune system. Plus it’s a tasty wheat beer that goes down super easy.

6. Beavertown Lazer Crush

Do you just go for the prettiest can on the shelf at the shop? That’s what you’ll always get when you get hold of any Beavertown beer. Their whimsical designs with spaceships and skulls always stand out, but it’s what’s inside the can that’s really special about this one. A super fresh taste which is a combo of peach iced tea crossed with grapefruit.

7. Brooklyn Brewery Special Effects

You’ll find another pretty design on this bottle with wavy, mesmerising primary colours just teasing you to pick it up off the shelf. Again, the beer itself ain’t bad either. It’s a pretty complex lager, with the starring role played by some dark roasted Munich malts that give it a beautiful bready taste.

8. Heaps Normal Another Lager

Fancy an award winner of a beer? This crisp Aussie lager won gold at the World Beer Awards, which according to the brewery themselves, “pairs well with chicken schnitty, pub games and dogs at pubs”. Which sounds like a delightful weekend afternoon to us.

9. Sobah Pepperberry IPA

You could probs guess this one was alcohol-free (the clue’s in the name). It’s also unique, with fruit from the pepperberry tree that is native to Australia giving it a distinctive taste.

10. Sierra Nevada Trail Pass Golden

Packed with hoppiness, this beer has a spicy/grapefruity taste that will keep you going back for more. According to the brewery, they’ve done “multiple tests over the last two years to refine the liquid including focus groups, consumer tasting panels, consumer research studies and more”. Sounds pretty robust to us!
