Over the past few weeks, vast numbers of people from all around the world have taken to the streets to march in solidarity with American protests over the killing of George Floyd by Minneapolis police. The marches have happened in all 50 states across the U.S. and over 60 countries.
In many places, marchers voiced anger and a need to highlight and change systemic racism and police brutality within their own cities and countries. We’ve gathered below just some of the images of these historic demonstrations and stunning displays of solidarity. Auckland, New Zealand
Tens of thousands of New Zealanders marched down Queen Street with roaring chants of Black Lives Matter. The protestors held signs with messages, “Be Kind,” “Do Better, Be Better,” and “Aroha,” which is the Māori word for love.

Los Angeles, California
Some are calling this the largest anti-racism protest to ever happen on the streets of LA. The peaceful Black Lives Matter march drew estimates of 50,000 to 100,000 people that marched through the streets of Hollywood on June 7, 2020.

From Bristol to Manchester to London, protesters have marched across the U.K. chanting Floyd’s name through their face masks. Demonstrators have spoken out about racism saying that it’s everywhere and we all have to fight it to make the world a more just place.

Milan, Italy
In cities all across Italy, thousands of people took part in sit-ins as a part of the Black Lives Matter marches. In Milan, a young demonstrator raises her fist in the air as other Milanese join the movement with those in the United States and across the world protesting racism and police violence.

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
As protesters marched along the Benjamin Parkway in Philadelphia a beautiful moment emerged alongside the crowds. This Philly couple, Dr. Kerry-Anne Perkins and Michael Gordon were getting married that day. The two came out to show their love and support for the protesters and movement. They kissed and raised their fists to the sky in support of Black Lives Matter.

The Hague, Netherlands
Following social distancing guidelines, lines were spray painted on the grass on the Malieveld where the protest in The Hague took place. Participants were asked to take a knee while speakers shared stories of BIPOC who died at the hands of the police.
