Are you looking for a stunning holiday resort?

Vague mystical hooting noises sound in the distance.

Want to relax and sip mai thais on the beach? Get a tan?

Hooting gets louder.

Well welcome to The White Lotus – a hotel chain that is guaranteed to unravel your life completely! We’ve been to Hawaii, we’ve been to Italy, and now the cast and crew of White Lotus season 3 are returning and bringing us to a new destination. We’re sure the antics will be just as crazy this time around. Want to know where this new season was filmed? Find out below!

Hooting is even more mystical and it intensifies to concerning levels.

Where was The White Lotus season 3 filmed?

As everyone’s favourite kooky and dramatic HBO drama returns, we all have the same question on our lips. Where was White Lotus season 3 filmed?

Well, the answer is gorgeous Thailand! The beachy islands have been the backdrop to many films and shows, always providing stunning scenes and making viewers jealous – though I don’t know how jealous we’ll be of this particular cast… Insanity will ensue.

Mike White, the series’ showrunner, said that season 1 focused on money, season 2 focused on sex, and now season 3 will focus on spirituality. And with beautiful temples dotting the country, Thailand is the perfect setting.

Koh Samui

A few different locations in Thailand were used for the filming of the show. Koh Samui is one of Thailand’s biggest islands, and it’s a must-visit destination (which is why you should really check it out on our Thai Island Hopper East trip).

1. Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui

The hotels standing in for the infamous White Lotus have been Four Seasons hotels in the last two iterations of the show, so it makes sense that they would return to one this time around.

As you might expect, the Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui is just stunning. Flanked by turquoise waters and white sandy beaches on one side, and lush forests and palm trees on the other, a weekend spent here is total bliss. Infinity pools, endless cocktails, beach huts, and views for days. The resort is well worth its price tag!

2. Villa Jacinta, Choeng Mon

In the beach region of Choeng Mon, a beautiful privately owned villa was used as one of the White Lotus season 3 filming locations. Blessed with views of the shore, and an infinity pool to enjoy them from, the villa fits right in with the general aesthetic of the show. We don’t yet know exactly what the villa was used for, but we’ll find out soon…

Phuket

Departing from Koh Samui, the White Lotus cast and crew also filmed in Phuket, another lush and gorgeous Thai Island on the country’s western coast.

1. The Anantara Mai Khao Phuket Villas

Also standing in as a backdrop for the fictional White Lotus hotel is the Anantara Mai Khao Phuket Villas, located on the Thai island of Phuket. This is a hotel for Thai travellers seeking total luxury – how lucky are the cast of crew of this season?!

Located near Sirinath National Park and Phuket’s longest beach, you’re in a natural wonderland. The hotel was built to resemble a Thai village and it features 83 villas for travellers to enjoy, as well as a private lagoon and treetop restaurant. Basically, it’s paradise.

Bangkok

Filming also took place in Thailand’s capital city, Bangkok! Specific locations have not yet been revealed, though the trailer has given us hints to a few touristy areas it could be.

When in Bangkok you should make sure to visit the various gilded temples like The Temple of the Emerald Buddha or Wat Phra Chetuphon Wimon – both are gold and ornate, seeing them at sunset when they catch the light is simply mindblowing. The Asiatique Riverfront Market, the Chatuchak Weekend Market are also must-sees if you want to make the most of Thai street food and purchase local souvenirs.
