The cinematic moment of 2024 was most definitely Wicked which saw Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande singing their hearts out as the iconic Elpheba and Glinda and holding space for love and wonder and magic. And now we’re back in the thick of it in 2025 with the sequel just around the corner! From Oz to Shiz University and even Munchkinland, it’s safe to say the movie is filled with whimsy and truly gorgeous sights – how lucky are we that some of them are real!

As we prepare for Wicked For Good, let’s revisit the gorgeous real life Wicked filming locations which you can visit with your best frenemies to make everyone else green with envy.

Wicked filming locations

1. Sky Studios Elstree & Warner Bros Studios, England

As much as we’d love to say that the dazzling lands of Oz are real and can be found on your travels, we must be the bearers of bad news and tell you that most of the Wicked filming locations can be condensed to one central location: Sky Studios Elstree. This is also where portions of the latest Bridget Jones was filmed! So, lots of pink happening here.

The Warner Bros Studios were also used to support and host the marvelous sets of Wicked, as well as Harry Potter in the past, proving that production only wanted the best of the best for the stage show on the silver screen.

2. Belmont Nursery, Norfolk, England

Struck by the opening scenes of Wicked in which the Munchkin’s celebrate the Wicked Witch of the West’s death by running through fields of tulips to the sounds of Ariana Grande’s falsetto? Well, you may be surprised to find that the fields of tulips were not entirely computer generated. Hazzah!

The vibrant carpet of tulips can actually be found at the Belmont Nursery in Norfolk which honestly gives the Netherlands a run for their money. You can visit the Nursery between April and May and gawk at the rainbow, and even purchase some beautiful bulbs for yourself.

3. Cuckmere River, Seaford, England

Elpheba and Nessa’s arrival at Shiz University, as well as the shot of Glinda’s pretty boat navigating towards the magical institution was filmed here on the meandering Cuckmere River. It’s hard to believe that the perfectly serpentine figure is natural, but it is! A stroll or drive through Seven Sisters Country Park makes for a perfect day out of London.

4. Seven Sisters Country Park, Sussex, England

This area of the country is simply gorgeous: white-faced cliffs which arch and slope along the landscape and meet the sea. Fans of Wicked will surely recognise these dramatic views as the ones which accompanied Cynthia Erivo’s immaculate performance of ‘The Wizard and I’.

5. Ivinghoe, Buckinghamshire, England

Munchkinland’s quaint environs and portions of the elegant Shiz University were constructed by production on some farmlands just north of Ivinghoe. The area is home to those classic green and brush-covered hills England is so famous for, and although there is no Yellow Brick Road, you can surely find a magical path of your own to walk along.

6. The Brighton Pavilion, Brighton, England

Although not technically a Wicked filming location, the Brighton Pavilion’s impressive twisting spires and onion domes served as a major point of inspiration for some of Shiz and Oz’s architecture. You can visit here for a little taste, and imagine Elpheba and Glinda bickering in one of the towers.

Wicked for Good filming locations

We don’t yet know too much about the filming and production of Wicked’s sequel yet, though certain Wicked filming locations like Sky Studios Elstree and Ivinghoe are set to return. Reports have also mentioned that the crew had a 10-day shooting schedule in Egypt to create some background around the Land of Oz! It’s safe to say we’re definitely not in Kansas anymore…
