The best way to sail the Croatia islands

European Experience - Sailing in Croatia

The sunniest Croatia islands are Korčula and Hvar, with over 2,700 hours of sunshine recorded over a year… (yep, we sail there)

Wanna sail the Croatia islands this summer? Expect beach parties, sailboat luxe, al-fresco dinners & priceless memories. In case you didn’t get the memo yet, the Croatian coastline is going to be BIG again this year.

On Contiki’s 8-day Croatia Island Sail trip, travellers will island-hop aboard a traditional sailboat across the Adriatic Sea. Travelling from Hvar to Korčula, Dubrovnik to Split – there’ll be plenty of time for relaxing and partying, whatever floats your boat (if you’ll pardon the pun…)

Take note: this sailboat has a way higher standard than other competitors out there – with sunning decks, A.C, a pool, bar and ensuite twin-cabins. In other words, luxury on the Adriatic – and with plenty of extra perks! Keep reading to find out what’s included on the trip, from pirate parties to island tours.

There’ll be sailboat luxe & al fresco dinners…

It doesn’t get much better than waking up to the bright-blue Adriatic Sea every morning, believe me. You’ll spend 8-nights cruising the Croatia coast in a high-quality sailboat, complete with all the luxuries and essentials you’ll need on trip. Think ensuite twin rooms, hot showers, delicious breakfast in the morning, plus A.C in your room and social areas.  Trust me – you will be thankful for a cooling breeze when the weather gets hot!

There’ll be plenty of stops for swimming in the sea. Group dinners across the trip, enjoyed al fresco on the ship deck or at a local restaurant (fresh seafood, anyone?) And don’t forget Happy Hour at the onboard bar, where you can grab cheap drinks to kickstart your night. Pretty good so far, right?

Epic beach parties on the Croatian coast

Lounging on sun decks, swimming the sea, chilling and having a good time… these are all pretty much a given, when you’re on holiday with us in Croatia. But if you fancy letting your hair down and experience Croatian nightlife, there’ll be plenty of opportunities for that, too.

One of the nights, we’ll get dressed up in our most fearsome pirate-wear and take some photos on-deck – before an epic beach party on the island of Trstenik to celebrate its nautical past! There’ll also be organised nights out in Dubrovnik, Hvar and Korčula – plus, your Trip Manager will be on hand to help you find the best bars, restaurants and deals for your stay in the islands.

If you feel like having a chill evening instead, feel free. There’s loads of quieter spots on-deck or on the mainland to explore, relax, and watch the gorgeous Croatian sun set.

With sailings to Hvar, Split & Dubrovnik

In the mornings of your trip, there’ll be breakfast and an opportunity to swim, before another exciting island to visit! We’ll hit up four stunning Croatian islands over the 8 days: Hvar, which is the most popular one, plus Trstenik, Korčula, and Makarska.

Each have their own unique history and culture, which we’ll explore on walking tours and orientations across the unique, pebbled landscape. There’ll also be stops in Dubrovnik and Split, the two main coastal cities, with tons of places to visit from historical fortresses to cute gelato cafes and beach bars. Think good music, great vibes and people you’ll want to stay in touch with after the trip ends!

What else can I expect on-trip?

Remember, when you travel with Contiki, you’re not just getting the dreamy destinations and great service. You’re also setting yourself up for a bunch of new friends. After all, you’ll be sailing with an awesome group of 18-35 year old travellers.

Whether you’re looking for party pals, fellow creatives or friends to check out a new island with, there’ll be tons of opportunities to get to know each other. Yes, I’m talking about the social dinners and city tours, but don’t forget about optional experiences, too!

Free-Time Add-ons are extra activities we’ve curated to go perfectly with your trip. You can include these for an additional charge (usually around $20-$30). On Croatia Island Sail, you get the chance to go on kayaking adventures and exclusive walking tours, plus there’s even a farewell dinner on the last day of the trip. But if you’d rather explore the islands at your own pace, you can opt out of these excursions and join in when it suits your schedule.

Of course, you do get a lot already included in your trip, some of which is listed below:
