10 spots where you’ll find the bluest, clearest water known to man

If you’re a water baby like we are, then you know that just being near the water makes everything better. We’ll take any chance to frolic by the beach regardless of the water colour, but there’s just something about clear blue water that makes our inner mermaid so much more excited.

While the local pool might be your summer go-to, take a look at what you’re missing in these beautiful destinations with the clearest water around, and reconsider your summer plans:

Balos Beach, Crete

Greece is all about epic shades of blue, but Balos Beach takes the cake for clearest water. It’s a bit of a walk down to the beach but it’s 100% worth it. Bring plenty to drink and sunscreen as there is nothing down there but beautiful nature and stunning water.

Castaway Island, Fiji

Pristine, remote and luxurious – Fiji is almost too beautiful to be real. Even Survivor and Castaway made being stranded on these islands seem pretty great to us. The clear blue water and the surrounding coral reef is ideal for snorkelling.

Koh Phi Phi, Thailand

Sunsets, salt water and sunshine make for the perfect trio to make the beaches of Phi Phi some of the most jaw-dropping you can find. Ever since Leo showed us The Beach, we’ve been dying to cross it off our bucket list and snorkel in the beautiful blue water of Thailand.

Hvar, Croatia

Some say that Croatia is the new Greece, but we need both of them in our lives and refuse to pick just one. The Adriatic provides some next level clear blue water and the historic old town just adds to the beauty of Hvar’s island vibes.

Bora Bora, French Polynesia

Chances are you or someone you know has Bora Bora as their screensaver and doesn’t even know it. It’s the go-to destination for adorable villas on stilts and clear blue water that’s out of this world.

The Bahamas

The entire Caribbean is absolutely known for its beaches and clear blue water, but the Bahamas takes the cake as some of the most picturesque and vibrant blues of them all.

Plitvice Lakes, Croatia

Like tiny little pools of sapphire surrounded by lush greenery, there are few places in the world as dreamy as these 16 waterfall-infused wonders. Although you can’t take a dive in the national park as it’s protected land, the Plitvice Lakes of Croatia are worth the visit, and there are plenty of beautiful Croatian lakes nearby to cool down in as well.

The Maldives

This drop-dead gorgeous island in the Indian Ocean is exactly the kind of remote paradise we wanna be at, 365 days a year. Legendary coastlines, coral and sea life only add to the picturesque and clear blue appeal.
