I never want my weight, skin color, or gender to hold me back from being an explorer. I feel incredibly lucky to live in a time where women, and especially women of color, are able to see the world. Yes, there’s still unfortunate dangers that follow us moreso than men, but hopefully more visibility of us out in the world will help us change things for future generations. And I never again want to have the mindset of needing to lose a certain amount of pounds before accomplishing something. Boy bye to that toxicity 👋🏾 📷@ericantonell

This iconic waterfall behind me is what I want to embody in my near future. Free, untamed, 𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴, and giving. The freedom to flow through life’s toughest obstacles while remaining untouched. The will power to keep on going without being 𝙢𝙖𝙣𝙞𝙥𝙪𝙡𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙙. The ability to empower even the most admired things in nature. And most of all the will to give back to the world, despite how much the world has taken from me. In the moment I am a small stream that is in it’s early stages of becoming into something greater. What has gotten me through is my believe and faith and 𝗚𝗼𝗱. Knowing that the pain will subside, and that I am here for a greater purpose. It’s not about me anymore. It never was. #inspiredbynature #dontgochasingwaterfalls

Who else feels like the next time they travel, it will feel like the first time?✨ ⠀ I remember the excitement as a kid for our annual holiday to Ghana. Tbh, it wasn’t really about the holiday, which was usually spent shaking hands with old relatives🚶🏾‍♀️. It was about the flight😄! We always took British Airways(BA) and so knew how to prepare beforehand. My older brother would source that year’s movie brochure and we would plan the 3 movies we would watch on board. We decided between us what meals to choose, though it was usually always chicken with BA’s make-believe jollof rice. Fear of heights? That was just a distraction, shush I’m trying to watch my movie🤫. Unfortunately, I couldn’t escape the safety video at the start🙄 – I can tell you BA used the same flight safety video for 10 good years and why they never changed it to even incentivise us to focus, I will never know🤷🏾‍♀️ ⠀ But as I’ve grown up, taking BA is no longer a ritual as it can be cheaper to take alternative airlines. I discovered that not all planes have back seat screens (the horror😦) and I’ve struggled with a fear of falling for various reasons. Honestly, the airport is the worst part of travelling for me – I walk though feeling like some criminal. I just want to reach my destination. So that child like awe? Gone. ⠀ But now as I write this, I think after Coronavirus I won’t feel that way. I’ve grown in immense gratitude for what travel gives us, even the wonder that is air travel. I want to stare out the window to the clouds now and savour every moment.Who’s gonna pop champagne with me at Heathrow?🥂😅☺️

Embrace and Celebrate Diversity✊🏿✊🏾✊🏽✊🏼✊🏻 I ♥️ traveling! I ♥️ learning new cultures, traditions, and OMG the food 😋 ✈️ ✈️ Traveling is one of the easiest ways to learn and celebrate other people’s cultures. But are you willing to learn from the cultures in your own country?? ✈️ ✈️ As I reflect on the past couple of weeks, we have so much more to learn, more listening to do, more advocating for marginalized groups, more work on the front lines, more celebrating and embracing other people’s cultures and giving more hugs and love to give! #pacaya #guatemala🇬🇹 #blacklivesmatter #chubbydiaries
