10 IRL European experiences that require absolutely #nofilter
Tired of living life through your Instagram photos? Make next year the one you experience Europe IRL with #nofilter. A photo’s only worth so much. Now’s the time to start planning trips you simply MUST see in person. Here are 10 European experiences that we promise truly live up to the photos.
10. Eat tapas in Spain
No filter required to get into some Spanish flair. The architecture and culture of Spain is truly unique. It’s also easy to eat your way through this country with Spanish tapas, paella and sangria on tap. Trust us, the photos don’t do Spain justice. You’ll have to taste the real deal IRL for the full experience.
9. Do sunrise yoga in Portugal
There’s no better way to wake up than with sunrise yoga in Portugal. Luckily there are tons of amazing beaches in Portugal for you to soak in the views. On Contiki’s Portugal City & Surf, staying at the Noah Surf House in Santa Cruz is a must! With relaxation and tons of wellness activities, it’s one of the European experiences you just have to try yourself.
8. Explore Nyhavn in Copenhagen
Head up to Scandinavia for some REAL European experiences. Nyhavn is one of the most touristy streets in Copenhagen where the views speak for themselves. This waterfront was built in the 17th century and gives us true Scandinavian feels. Spend your days exploring the canal and dining at the local cafes because the Danish pastries are divine!

7. Walk the East Side Gallery in Berlin
Although we’re familiar with the WWII history in Berlin, experiencing the Berlin wall IRL is a completely different experience. Walking these streets will give you a new appreciation for how far we’ve come. It’s a European experience that’s just not the same unless you see it, and feel it, in real life.
6. Wander through the canals of Venice
Although we’ve all seen Venice through the lens, it’s another place that demands a proper visit in person. Trust us, you’ll need no filter to enjoy this European experience. Venice is a great spot to wander and take photos. The best way to explore the city is by wandering the streets, with no plans, absorbing its remarkable beauty. You might just spot some hidden canals off the beaten path – these are worth every picture.
5. Sail through Croatia
Spend your days sailing through the Adriatic Sea. The Dalmatian coastline in Croatia is a spectacular European experience. With its perfect weather, you can spend your days soaking up the sun or exploring Croatia’s history. Then drink in the good vibes, and dance the night away.
4. Bike through Amsterdam
Known as the bicycle capital of the world, it’s no surprise that Amsterdam’s a city best explored on two wheels. And there are tons of spots to rent one for the day. So, why not grab a bike and start exploring? Cycle throughout the city and enjoy the canals. It’s beautifully scenic and you’ll have heaps of fun.
3. Hike in Cinque Terre
Hiking in Italy is a great way to get some exercise and take in the views. For us, one of our fave spots in Italy is Cinque Terre. With 5 towns of colourful houses, steep terraces and the sea, it’s no wonder that this is the perfect way to spend your vacay without any filters. Once you’re done hiking, hop on a boat and swim in the sea for the full European experience. Cause what could really be a more picturesque European experience?
2. See Paris by night
Known as the city of lights, Paris is a place best enjoyed in person. From wandering through its streets to eating French cuisine and croissants, you’ll see just how easy it is to fall in love with Paris. Gain a vantage point at Montparnasse Tower, the Eiffel Tower or the Arc de Triomphe to see the twinkling lights of the city from above. We don’t need any filters to feel the possibilities of Paris.

1. Watch the sunset in Santorini
Take it from us – Santorini is one spot that requires absolutely zero filter. Enjoy the scenic views with a day spent island-hopping in the sun, or from above at one of the cliffside villages. Still, the best time to experience Santorini is most definitely once the sun starts to set on this gorgeous little town. And the best part? You get to do it all again the next day.
