1. Ski gear

If you’re packing for a ski trip, these items are a MUST. Of course, you’ll be packing your skis, poles and maybe even a snowboard for your trip. But you also won’t want to forget to some other important ski gear items like a ski helmet and ski goggles to keep you safe on the slopes.

2. Waterproof items

Pack a waterproof jacket, waterproof ski pants, waterproof gloves, ski socks and ski boots. These items will not only show your personality on the slopes, but help you to keep warm in the cold weather outdoors.

3. Base layers

Base layers are a great way to keep warm and dry while on the go! They can be made of merino wool or synthetic fabrics, which are great options for retaining the best heat. Using base layers while skiing will help prevent you from getting chills or sweating while you’re moving. Avoid items made of cotton as they tend to absorb moisture from snow and sweat, making you cold.

4. Warm regular clothing

Once you’re off the slopes, you’ll want to change into some non-ski clothing. Packing regular clothing is important to remember for walking around the ski resort. You’ll want to bring a warm jacket, snow boots, shirts and jeans/pants, which can all be used while grabbing après-ski drinks. Don’t forget a scarf/neck warmer, mittens/gloves and hat/beanie to keep everything warm and covered up.

5. Swimsuit or trunks

Some of the best ski resorts offer some killer spa services or Scandinavian hot springs. So, it may be a good idea to pack a swimsuit or swim trunks to let your muscles soak in the hot springs. It’s the perfect way to enjoy yourself and relax after a long day on the slopes.

6. Lip balm

Help keep your lips protected. The elements can be quite harsh while on the slopes. Use a lip balm with SPF in it to prevent your lips from chapping, and of course from the sun.

7. Sunglasses

On sunny days the slopes can be very bright from strong rays reflecting off the snow. Although ski goggles will protect your eyes while on the slopes, once you take them off the sun can be blinding. Pull out your favourite pair of shades to help your eyes adjust.

8. Small first aid kit

If it’s your first-time skiing, you may want to prepare yourself for the unexpected. Having a small first aid kit is essential for any ski adventure. Bring some band-aids, painkillers and some non-steroid anti-inflammatory treatment like Voltaren. This way you can worry less and have more fun.

Remember, don’t stress. Even if you forget one essential item, you’ll still have an amazing time on the slopes. Check out Contiki’s ski trips around the world for the full adventure.
