July 2015 saw Contiki hit the road with 250 music lovers on a journey to Australia's number one music, arts and culture festival Splendour in the Grass in stunning Byron Bay! 3 days of incredible music followed with the likes of Blur, Florence and The Machine, Peking Duk and Mark Ronson performing to over 30,000 fun loving festival goers. It was the BEST of times, bringing plenty of lolz and memories for years to come.
But before we even begin on the many lessons learned at Splendour, watch the video above for a recap of our glorious three days together. Once you've done that, continue reading. Capiche?
1. RAIN, HAIL, SUNSHINE OR MUD – IT DON’T MATTER.
With good music, good friends and good weather, how could you go wrong? But when a festival is smack bang in the middle of winter, in Byron Bay, Australia – it could end up a little temperamental. Fortunately enough, Australia doesn’t mess around when it comes to weather. So we persevered. We danced, we laughed, we partied through the days and the nights and we came away with some unforgettable memories.
Splendour provided loads of entertainment; a killer line up, plenty of awesome bars, delicious food and of course – downhill naked mud man (see below).

2. PATIENCE IS A VIRTUE INNIT?
Imagine close to 30,000 music lovers in one place? You’re bound to have your patience tested. Right? Right.
The toilet lines are a little messy, that food line for the bacon and egg roll, toastie and coffee is probably worst than your hangover BUT inevitably, you’ve got the whole day ahead of you to be oh so gloriously free.
Our tip? Have a conversation with the person standing next to you in line. It could be your new BFF. Seriously.
3. NICHOLAS CAGE IN A CAGE IS THE MOST RIDICULOUSLY AWESOME JUMPING CASTLE EVER
4. CAMPING = PLENTY OF FUN SURPRISES
If you have never been camping, you haven’t really lived. It’s one of those thing you’ve gotta do at least once in your life, you know? This year, we spoke to many Contiki patrons who had never been to a festival before, let alone camp at one, so it was a real eye opener. We wanted to make it extra special for you guys, so we held an exclusive Meg Mac performance at our Contiki campsite amongst many other perks. So forget everything you thought you knew about camping, it’s FUN! At Contiki splendour we want you to simply enjoy your time at the festival with your new mates!
5. MUST. CHARGE. PHONE
Because if you never Instagrammed it, it never happened. No, but in all seriousness sometimes it’s okay to unplug and simply experience the moment that you’re in.
