As a four-time Contiki traveler (Egypt & the Nile, Asian Adventure, and two other itineraries no longer offered) and lover of all things fashion-jet set related, I can assure you I have spent many hours contemplating the essential packing items for a Summer jaunt to Europe. Having endured several over-sized luggage hauls, and broken heels on Roman cobblestone, I now live by a fashion-meets-function mentality with a few key pieces in tow. Before zipping up your luggage ladies, make sure you have the following 7 items with you:
The Gladiator Sandal
Whether you are sauntering through the incredible shops of Mykonos, or heading out for a night of dancing with your tour mates in Firenze, these sandals are the perfect day to night footwear that you can’t travel without. Purchase them in neutral and you’ll be able to pair them with any outfit, highlighting that gorgeous Summer tan you’re building along the way!
The Tunic Dress
Contiki tours have you swimming in breathtaking waterfalls then hopping to dinner and dancing in the blink of an eye. A great tunic dress, with a little pop embroidery or print, is the perfect piece to throw over your swimsuit and blend seamlessly from beach to street.
The Statement Necklace
Even if you are wearing the same black jersey dress 90% of your trip, a gorgeous statement necklace can easily elevate your look from basic to chic, blending you with the European locals in a snap!
The Standout Sunnies
You will likely have a few early call times and late nights dancing under the stars with Contiki, so having a pair of bright color sunglasses is the perfect remedy and always finishes off a day look.
The Crossbody Bag
When you’re out exploring amazing markets and bazaars or bouncing between monuments and museums, you are safer carrying your essentials close to your body. A super sleek leather crossbody is easy to keep your hand over and otherwise unassuming.
The Wrap Scarf
An over-sized wrap scarf is so incredibly versatile. Use it as a beach sarong for strolls along the water or as your go to coverup for more conservative attractions like a cathedral or mosque.
The Panama Hat
I adore the silhouette of a wide brimmed panama. Not only do they protect your skin from long days under the sun, look impossibly chic, but they also are great for tucking your hair under during humid Summer days.
