Some people travel to relax, reset and go with the flow. Others travel to push themselves, experience EVERYTHING and let their adventurous side shine. If you're the latter, you're gonna want to read about 2017's hottest adventure destinations...
Vegas may by synonymous with partying, but the crazy city also has a HUGE amount to offer those looking for adventure. From the SlotZilla zip-lining adventure though Vegas’ Old Town to rollercoasters right off the Strip, you won’t know which thrill-seeking ride to try first!
Bolivia may not be as well known as Peru, but the neighbouring country has some epic experiences for adventure seekers. 4-Wheel-Drive over the iconic salt flats, Salar De Uyuni, to get your creative pics, before visiting the 100% haunted Great Train Graveyard, an adventure of a different kind. If those sound to passé, you’ll be pleased to know Bolivia also offers rock climbing and biking out the wazoo.
The Swiss Alps
Fancy falling from great heights? Us neither, but Switzerland is home to TWO of the world’s longest bungee jumps! In fact, in the Swiss Alps, skiing down giant glaciers is so overdone that they offer terrifying walks to tiny viewing platforms over the snowy landscapes and a casual 152 metre bungee off a cable car line at Mount Titlis to break up those ~boring~ days.
Exploring the cenotes in Mexico is a more chill type of adventure and one that we whole-heartedly embrace BUT outside Mexico City, there’s something even cooler: hot air ballooning. A great starting point for any budding thrill-seeker, you’ll be distracted from the height by the beautiful colours of the city.
Zip-lining through the jungle is all in a day’s work in Thailand’s Chiang Mai. The Flight of the Gibbon is probably the most famous zip line and you can see some of it’s namesakes primates while soaring through the treetops! If flying isn’t on your bucket list, you can always use the sky bridges.
Caye Caulker in Belize is the island paradise you’ve always dreamed of, however it’s also the perfect hub from which to adventure the oceans from too! Besides your classic snorkelling, you can swim with stingrays and sharks (smallish ones) and explore shipwrecks. For the truly adventurous, head out to the Great Blue Hole, a GIANT sinkhole off the coast that will make you really wonder what’s lurking below…
Voss in Norway is host of the Extreme Sports Week every year for a good reason: they’ve got it all! From white water rafting, to the more intense end of the scale base-jumping, there’s NOTHING you can’t try in Voss. Just come prepared to wrangle your fear, it’s not for the faint hearted!
Who knew Greece’s island of Corfu was a thrill-seekers metropolis? If you like water sports though, you’ll be dying to spend a week soaking up the sun and parasailing, donuting and water-skiing your way across the Ionian Sea.
