Some might say Brando is crazy. We say he's got a #NOREGRETS attitude.
On a sunny morning in February 2013, Brando Yelavich ventured to Cape Reinga (the very top of New Zealand) armed with the bare minimum; a book of edible plants, a knife and a sense of adventure. He then started to walk. After 600 days and 8,000km "Wildboy" made it to the bottom of New Zealand's South Island.
He may have stopped walking but his adventure wasn't over. Fast forward two years; Brando now dedicates his life to experiencing everything adventurous New Zealand has to offer. Most recently, this wild boy joined a 3-day Contiki trip to the sunny Bay of Islands and crammed it with as many adventure activities he could.
Now it's your turn! Keep reading to find out Brando's top three super easy tips to pack adventure into a long weekend.
Say YES
Brando says the best way to get adventurous is to say YES at absolutely every opportunity.
Would you like to try this exotic new food? Yes please. Would you like to kayak through an ancient mangrove forest? Of course. Would you like to jump off the Sky Tower? Definitely.
Walk
After 8,000km this is a pretty obvious one but Wildboy says you should get up off your bum and walk wherever you can. Walking will help you get closer to the adventure and who knows what you’ll see along the way.
Do It With Others
Although he walked NZ alone he says the best stories come when you’re with others.
Get out there and meet new people, make some new friends, who knows what adventures will follow!
